Hello everyone
I am a new guest in the forum
I live in Algiers .With my 1.10m dish i have almost all Eurobird 1 channels including ITV 1 ITV 2 ITV 3 ITV4 and channel FOUR all in HD
But infortunately no BBC ONE or BBC HD in spite of using BLACK INVERTO lnb
Could someone help me please thanks

Those Channels were on Astra 2D until a few weeks ago. They are now on Astra 1N which is a temporary replacement Bird at 28.2E.

Have you had the BBC Channels in the past?

I imagine not as you would have needed a dish in excess of 2.4m.

We don't have any signal reports for 1N from Algeria so far and it isn't hard to imagine that you would still need a very big dish to get it.

That said, you claim to be getting ITV Channels .............

What receiver are you using?

As Tivu says I would have expected you would need a very big dish however if you are receiving the HD versions you should be able to receive BBC HD on

10847 V tp 50 23000-8/9 QPSK

unless your receiver is unable to accommodate those parameters

Hello tivu
Yes in spite of a dish of 1.10m i get all ITV HD channels and channel FOUR HD during all the day
My receiver is a FOREVER 7820 HD probably made in south Corea
I intend to order a 1.80m dish but i hesitate between an offset or a prime focus one
Can you tell me which is the best to get the north beam channels of ASTRA 2

Hello Topper
My receiver is a FOREVER 7820 HD very expensive in Algeria but extremely sensitive and performant
I even get a strong signal of the BBC package on INTELSAT 27.5 W freq. 11495 v 44100 but i don t understand why none of the channels apears
when loading the transponder with signal of 85 per cent

Have you carefully checked you have all the parameters correctly set, including the Modulation?

Is your Receiver S2 capable?

Yes Tivu i checked all the parameters are OK My receiver supports DVB S DVB S2 MPEG 2 and MPEG 4 QPSK and 8PSK

Also make sure that you have Pilot ''OFF'' in your configuration setup for the BBC Channels. Down here in Malta we can receive those channels with a 1.2 m Dish.

To indicate the start of each FEC block for the decoder, Frame synchronization is needed. It is also designed such that it can be used to reduce initial frequency and phase uncertainty of the modulated signal. On most dvb-s2 capable Receivers you can either have the 'Pilot' in Auto/ON/or OFF (as is the case in Dreamboxes) in which case the receiver (in auto mode ) makes its own choice or (as is the case in my Clarke-Tech 5000HD Receiver) you can either have it 'Off' or 'On' and then apply the scan of the frequency.

Thank you zorbua for the explanation. In fact in my receiver FOREVER 7820 HD there is no indication of the word PILOT in the scan window.
But on the other hand there is the word in french which is RESEAU OUI or NON is that it
Do you think zorbua that i should make a BLIND scan rather than an AUTO scan .thanks

When were you last there? We used to need big dishes too until the switch over at the end of February. Main problem is the signals from 26E and 30E. The transponders on 28E that don't have competing transponders on those satellites are an easy catch on an 80cm dish (C4 HD, and the ITVs on 10964).

hello,
if you are receiving itv and ch 4 and ch 5 and e4 then bbc should come in somewhere.
there is more that 2 groups of bbc that carries different regions.
ch5 group is a little weeker than the bbc group and if you are receiving ch 5 bbc will come in.
there may be some problems with alignment, skew ,old lnb or long cable run.
from the sound of your system it has a motor and is movable.
10.772 ghz hor.22000 sr 5/6 fec is one group
10788 ghz vert.22000 sr 5/6 fec is another group
10803 ghz hor.22000 sr 5/6 fec
10818 ghz vert 22000 sr 5/6 fec is another group
if the itv and ch 5's all come in this should as well.
have your alignment checked and your skew checked.
check the line length and if the line is in good shape.

I am sorry but my french amounts to zero so I can't help you there.....on the other hand you can do a blind scan of the DVB-S2 channels only.....also as mentioned further down in the threads I presume if you can receive the ITV's I don't see the reason why you can't get BBC....perhaps a little tweeking of the Dish or fine tuning from the Receiver side will do the trick.

Hello everybody and thank you so much to all of you for precisions how to get bbc channels
Hello Martin123.I live in KOUBA about 30kms from LARBAA.
I will try to find out a 2.40m prime focus dish but i am sure it won t be easy in ALGERIA since all the dishes in the market have a maximum diameter of 1.10m
Many thanks to Ralphmagno and huevos for your help.
