How to pick the right hardware...

Hello to you all!
I'm not sure if i'm posting in the right place, if not please redirect.
I have never built a satelite TV system but i have a considerable electronics knowledge thus i think i am up for the challenge.

There is however one thing i don't understand:
1) How do i know which receiver , dish or bundle will be able to pick up the desired signal (my main priority are russian channels)

It shows the channels from Russia that transmit in the skies above Europe. Note that many of them are scrambled. However you will see there is a reasonable selection available free to air (clear) on the Hotbird satellites.

If these will do you then the equipment requirements are fairly simple.
