how to set aliases

anyone know where to defile a .aliases file on the DB system ?

also, anyone know where to tell DB to start certain proggies on boot up ?

Not an expert, but have a look at rcS file(s) under /etc. Can also use the init file also under /etc and var/etc. It's very interesting :)
 
thanks, will try those ideas out.
i already tried starting some programs from /var/etc/init, but got nowhere
