Hello,

I have two different satellites. one is 4.8 e, and other 28.2 east.

I have one receiver called as Amiko Alien, which has many features including Diseqc.

So, how can I connect both satellites into the SINGLE LNB input of the receiver? I heard something called as Disec. If I use this switch, then will the receiver use the appropriate LNB for appropriate channel in real time?

I assume you mean you have two different dishes? Most people don't own their own Satellites.

Two port DiSEqC switch (cheap as chips)

Allocate Port A to one dish and Port B to the other in the Receiver's DiSEqC menus.

Default is Port A, so use that for the most used Satellite (Dish!).

This is the reciever box, but I cannot see any diseqc menu within the receiver. What do I do now?

It''ll be there somewhere ................ probably a layer or two down from the Main Menus.

Many Receivers have it under something like "Antenna Setup"

Just play around until you find it.

Then select DiSEqC 1.0 and you'll find you can allocate up to 4 Ports.

There are two many Receiver variants out there for us to be able to give you chapter and verse :)

And, especially with Linux Receivers, you really need to learn to drive it yourself.

I have a sub menu by the name of TUNER SETTINGS. But is locked/ no access.

You reckon diseqc is there?

No idea. But I doubt it.

DiSEqC settings should, however, be easy enough to find and gain access to.

Its a Linux box, I think it may be tuner settings that you need. Who put the image on it?

I could see some AUTO DISEQC in the manual installation menu. It has spark image on it, which I believe is default.

1. Any particular brand you suggest for the diseeqc? or just the cheapest one for 4 pounds from the ebay would do the job?

2. What is inside a tuner settings anyway?

Cheapo switch will do just fine.

Cheap one on ebay says something as diseqc 2.0?

What does it mean? Does it imply that it will not work on my PVR?

Backwards compatible.

It'll be fine.

In my box I found some LOOP connector?

What is it for?

Cheers

Probably to connect LNB Out to LNB 2 In for those who only have a single feed from their dish.

and why wud somebody do that?

It activates the second tuner, and allows limited recording functionality.

The most common reason is being a Flat dweller where often the infrastructure is such that there is only one feed available from the Communal system.

Edit: AS we spotted the ambiguity in the question and both aspects are covered! Teamwork.

Sorry, I do not understand you Tivu.
