I have a cunning plan (again) but....

An update : Yesterday I received a Maclean quad LNB and a DVBSky S960 USB tuner. I've also decided to mount a spare 60cm dish (using the new lnb ) under my motorised setup solely for 28E. This will give me a bit more flexibility as regards to a Freesat box. The motorised dish needs taking down and the accumulated alge removing anyway and at the same time I'll move it on to the top of the T mount, therefore raising it about 20cm..

Yes....it seemed that there was a "Whacky Races" theme going on and as I've lost hope (on a temporary basis) with NUFC I thought it was time for a change. I reasoned that "Peter Perfect" was suitable LOL. I'll be posting photos of the new setup etc anon...
 
Well....I should have known better than to change my avatar to Hong Kong Phooey scratching his head. That's exactly what I was doing an hour ago...

I'd managed to mount the additional dish for 28E the other day and got a spare hour or two today to try and install the USB tuner....it's dead...Monty Python dead...swapped over to a working power supply to verify it wasn't that and even tried using the remote to power it on...absolutely nothing....no power light or anything..

So, I've requested a refund from Amazon and have to send it back to the seller before the 5th of February....gutted LOL....
 
Replacement tuner arrived today and have got it working (and scanned 28E) but using my Windows 8 netbook. It doesn't want to work under Linux. Anyway will start a thread in the other 'card' section as I need to ask about software.
 
I'll try to bring this thread to a conclusion.....

The DVBSky 960 is now working on the netbook and running under Windows 8. I paid for the full version of ProgDVB, which after trying demo versions of others seemed to have the edge.....However, it was a pain to set up with my multisat, as their way of ordering the switches seemed at odds with the way I had it on the VU+.

Anyway, after a couple of days headscratching it looks like it's all on there. I need to tweak one or two LNBs and eventually move the motorised dish but that can wait till more Springlike weather. The VU+ is burbling along quite happily on the dedicated Freesat dish so SWMBO is relatively happy....
 
Aye, well: Relatively happy is as much as a chap can expect.

Relatively is defined as compared with something else. Therefore it all depends on what you are comparing her happiness too. It could be that you are now in the den and she can watch the TV is peace.......:rolleyes:
