If it's with the receiver in your profile, you change the satellite via the USALs menu and then execute a goto command. The dish will arrive at the calculated position and then you scan / red button. Also via the auto navigation if this model supports it.

Well done ............ I suspect your hiccups will actually be of long term benefit in understanding all the foibles of hobby Satellite.
 
yes thanks all im really pleased i sorted it in the end.

now now i have a Q!!

Anything past 19e i cannot pick up....would you say its becuase of the conifer trees or a shed etC? i will post a pic in a minute..

any ideas would be great as i need to get past 19e, cheers
 
ok, this is a pic ...

when i go to 39e for example . about a third or more of dish is covered by conifer trees.

That's almost certainly your problem.

Now you know what you're doing, can you not mount the dish on a pole attached to the wall of the garage?

Looks like a much better place to me.

Edit: Having zoomed in, I suggest you fit the bracket to the right of the washing line fixing: Provided there are no obstructions to the west that the pic doesn't show.

hello

the landlady will not allow me to fix the pole to the garage. i was thinking of cutting the conifers right back to clear the line to the dish, what do you think?

Possibly - but a lot of cutting required! Are you allowed to do that?

Apart from stopping the immediate foliage from fouling and occluding the dish, you also need to make sure that line of sight for those Eastern satellites is ok, remembering that the dish is actually looking up in the air from around 18 to 20 odd degrees.

Ill give the cutting a go.

I cutt a shit load once before to help me move around where i placed the dish...I'll just cut them back, enough for sight of dish. if this fails i will consider moving the dish but that will be more hassle.
 
Well if I've read it right, and the dish is pointing to 39E in the pic, you might just be lucky getting as far as 42E, say, if you get shot of the stuff right by the dish.

Ah.

In that case, hack more than you thought!!

I'd do a bit at a time, just to get an idea of the scale of the job ie. Leave it at 19E and hack until clear.

Don't forget the dratted stuff grows ..................

why does she think it will be such a problem its only 5 small holes for the t and k. you should have just went ahead :)

i know shes a stupid tart.

im going to hack bit by bit , shouldnt take too long. think ill set it to 39e then hack and then keep checking the box/tv to c if its picekd up U-zzz
 
Right, when i controll the motor the LNB cable keeps falling out the Motor...what should i do about this? as i keep having to go outside and push it back in... :confused:
 
Have you got the right size f-plugs for the cable? they are usually a tight screw on fit. They should not fall off. When all finished they should be waterproofed with self amalgamating tape as well. How did you fit them?

Ah.

Common problem: What happens is that as you turn the dish in one direction, it drags the cable with it, causing it to loosen. As you drive the dish back the other way you are effectively "pushing string" so it won't tighten up.

So what you need to do is tie that cable to the pole as close as you can to the motor F connector. A cable tie does the job in no time at all.

This means that the cable cannot use the connection as a fulcrum.

And of course you must route the rest of the cable so it doesn't snag on any bolts/clamps etc.
