Increasing recorded program capacity on Sky receiver

Hi, I have the Sky receiver with (I think) a 250GB disk in it. Is there a way to attach another drive in order to increase the capacity of recorded programs?
 
Yes , you can replace the hard drive on sky+ receivers with high capacity ones . Like a 1Tb for example . The only thing , as i remember is , the bar telling you the percentage left empty on the disk will not be accurate , but it might have changed since i last done it .
 
I just opened the Sky box and it has a 500GB disk in it. So I need something like 2 TB...
 
The hard drive is partitioned and the end user only has half the capacity of it. The rest is reserved for Sky's use.
 
its a while since i did mine but i had the 320gb disc in mine and put a 640gb western digital audio/visual hard disc in mine which works great.

I had to use some software called copy+ to prepare it for use in the receiver, it will probably have changed by now.
 
hmm i wonder if a new drive will simply work or whether it will need some kind of partinioning/formatting ?
 
The drive is not partitioned logically or physically - there is only one partition full stop. The reservation for Anytime is software controlled and limits the total size of all files entered into the two file allocation tables - one for the personal planner and one for Anytime. The reservation for Anytime depends on the model of Sky box and is regardless of the total hard disk size (providing it is larger than the Anytime reservation) and is 140 GB for all HD boxes except the DRX890 and DRX895 which are 250GB and 500GB respectively.
 
I have added a 2TB drive and so far it seems to work OK. I cannot make a judgement on the % free indicator bar.
