Hi, I am trying to put together a professional looking web site but all attemps have been pretty much crap with a big 'C'.O-no

Anyone know a company in the UK that does affordable (that means, 'cheap') professional web site design that doesn't look crap.

How big a website, content?

Have you thought about a paid template design that you can pretty much make your own.

Some of the free templates available can still offer a professional look.

It'll probably run to about 11 pages. I have done a 'trial' web site but it isn't published yet. At first I thought it looked quite good, but I was lying to myself. It was crap. Especially when I looked at my competitors' web sites which have flash and everything. All the bells and whistles.

I have the content, it's just the way it's arranged on the pages. It looks so damn 1998 style. In effect, crap. :D All the professional web templates I have downloaded either do not work on all browers or they're really not that professional.

I don't know how to answer that. But I don't have much money to waste. ;)
 
I've got a friend at uni who creates websites. From what I've seen he's very good and I wouldn't think for one moment he'd rip you off.
