Install happening this week! :)

Tony is your new shed brick work single skin ? It wont take a lot of wind to rip the top K bracket out with the brick work. The whole lot could have been lower, the pole is long enough for this. If I was doing it I would have drilled through if single skin and plated the back.
 
It's brick, cavity wall and then breeze block! Believe me, I'm going to be looking for someone to sort this. I AM NOT HAPPY! :( . By the way, the pole is a scaffolding pole made from aluminium and I got 2 lengths given to me in 1984 and I've had them ever since. Light but very strong!
 
Can you get the original installer back or are you not feeling confident with him now?
 
That's about right, Jack! I'd rather get someone else to sort it. The problem is...who? Any ideas for my part of the world? Looking on the net right now!

Really can't see what you lot are on about. Worst thing I can see is a washer missing from one of the fixings. Cable is taped to the mast and dish and has slack in it so nothing is going to get stressed. Anything else is just cosmetic. Most important question is does it track the arc properly. How much did the install cost?
 
I paid £140. I think it tracks, but could maybe do with rechecking with a half-decent meter.

Now imagine the dish at the extremes of the arc and consider how slack (or not) that same cable would be...

Getting decent results on 7.3W as well as 26E (which you reported success with yesterday) would be a quick and easy test. Those two positions are far enough apart to highlight any appreciable tracking error.

Just checked on my Fibo. I need 2cm more cable at the end of the arc, compared to the centre.
 
Just the install. I had everything else. I should also mention he did not use the washers that fit on the screws holding the dish face. I think he was in a hurry as his last appoinment was 2 and a half hours long. IMHO mistakes were made on my install. The guy said that I probably knew more about dish installations than HE did. Mein Gott In Himmel!

Quite. But it's stored away in the dark recesses lest anyone else ask for a recommendation hereabouts.

Had you been just a wee bit closer, I'd have contemplated helping out and feel a little guilty now for not sticking my head up above the parapet.
 
Still too far, really. Fuel and time equation not favourable.

But for now, I think the best thing to do is leave well alone and just enjoy using it.

The 7.3W results are eagerly awaited.

can you please provide him with some frequencies, on 7.3W, so that he can post the results, along with those on 26E.
Tony 1A can you please post the size of dish, I think you mentioned it in your other thread, and the signal quality levels, on some satellites, along with the frequencies, and other details, so that it is easier to check if the dish has been set up correctly.
 
Although I was at my Mum's last week (also in the NE) she is fairly demanding of my time. I'd have loved to have offered help but can only imagine the reaction I'd have got.
