Install over eaves?

Hi,

Between Edin - Glas central belt

Have been led to a TM600 motorized 80cm by a number of friends all over (just because they have had them really, but they paid for installation and setup a good while ago) I'm too tight and like to learn and admit to using the dreaded DB2 for a short while I lived there so image transfers are methods to be learned later after tracking learned first.

Main Q = Front of house faces nearly due south
hurrah full swing = no , covenant = no dish on front of house.
West wall line of sight no go, exceedingly large trees

Old army compass 178 mag on east wall, allow std 2 degree error on reading means no west, Thor maybe)

Neighbour to east and 2.3 mtr south of my building line, still get 118 mag from my east wall giving
roughly 70 east rem read error

Reading through here an all over the web this may be an option

East wall TK Bkts * 2 (have to see orientation to understand) , Scaffold pole up over soffit side roof to get full arc.

Is this strong enough with rawbolts for normally strong west winds during 1/2 of year

Does it look oK fo her in doors to not do my head in. (mesh dish better?)

Any setting up via usb, serial, lan, to pc prior to installation?

Above eaves mounts are fine as long as the mast and the bracket fixings are robust. Our http://www.satellites.co.uk/forums/dishpointer.php widget should hep with positioning of the rig.

to fix the brackets to the wall i would advise using some strong fixings like sleeve anchor bolts, much stronger than those bolts with the plastic plug things. i use them and its holding up channel master dish with heavy 1224 motor.

once you get a mounting solid you can go up dish size to 1metre if you want.

Sleeve anchors are good as are thru bolts. Some anchors may not be suited to some brickwork due to expansion, depends on the brickwork of course.

those are different to the ones i used for my install.

have you tried those thunderbolts or whatever they are called that you can screw direct into the brickwork ?

Yes used them, again not suitable for all brickwork and can shear off if installed incorrectly. Wouldn't use them for a large heavy rig.

Thunderbolts are a great fast fix for some applications. Great for a 60/80cm dish on good brickwork, and medium/heavy weight block. I use 'em on most installs below that size. Otherwise I will use shield anchors or even resin anchors.

For a sizable install over the roofline I would be using m10 75mm shield anchors min, and a KK bracket min depending on the wind loading the dish will be subject to.
