Good day everyone, I need urgent help for someone to give me the name and address of a competent satellite installation engineer who really know what he is doing and not a cowboy. I live in a flat over the top of a shop, just above the shop there is a very wide space to work on,from there my dish is on the top and at the front of the building, I think the distance from that space to the roof is about 15 mtrs. It means that access has to be by ladder. I have a 1mtr Channel master dish, and the 18" actuator needs changing. I purchased a new 18" Superjack to save an engineer who said he was coming having to get it, then he did not turn up. The other problem is that because it is a very busy little road my flat is in, parking during the week and on Saturdays is a problem, so the work needs to be done on a Sunday. I live in South East London, so if anyone knows of someone who is reliable and can do the job for me, even this weekend cannot be soon enough. I am lost without my dish. I know this request is a long shot, but I am hoping someone can help me, thank you. PS hope I have posted this on the right page if not apologies.

Sorry

Dont know anyone really local.

You could try Clearview (Kingston)

020-8546-4902 - ask for Robert

A1m Channel Master should really only need A 12" motor, unless you are trying for 68East

Tried to post reply all day and the site has been overloaded and could not get in, where my dish is situated, and when it was working properly I could receive from 68E TO 58w, but if I cannot get anyone to do the job, then I will have to give up my hobby and get rid of all my equipment, just bought a technomate DAPCI, which I have not even been able to use yet.

Why not try the yellow pages or www.Yell.com there must be someone nearby who can do it, but don't expect a bargain job, sounds like an awkward installation with parking difficulty and antisocial timing.

Hmm, didn't notice that bit, no installer that I know will work at that height from a ladder.

Done that sort of height a few times in London when I was much younger (and almost as stupid).

I could hardly move the hire ladders on my own, these were the heavy duty three section (ex BT?) style with rope and pulley extension.

Even then to reach 15m the ladders were near vertical, no fun when perching near enough on the top rung, gripping the ribbon cable with one hand to stay upright while hammering the last two clips into the wall. All this above the ubiquitous railings around the basement of a Bayswater residence.

Thank you for your replies, unfortunately it is not my building but have now established its approx 30 feet vertical so it would have to be a 40 foot tripple, oh for the guy who installed it, but he is now in Spain, the only other thing is a tower but they are £69 a day then it has to be erected, sorry bothering you with my problems, just though there may have been someone around who could do the job.

Trouble with all the aerial installers that are in yellow pages is that they may have experience of sky dishes, many do not have experience in setting up motorised, thanks for the reply

Reference my previous messages on Help Urgently Needed, thanks for all your help, I finally found an installer to do the job, spoke to him on friday, said he would be around Sunday afternoon, arrived at 12.00pm today, went up changed the actuator, advised me my LNB had a hole in it, so asked him to change it as after four years the cap had become brittle. He did the work, and knew what he was doing. So if anyone needs this guy, he works in London and down the South Coast, this is his details Telly Addicts 0800 083 5002 he has been 14 years in the business, and I would recommend him to anyone.
