Hi ,
Does any one in England get 66E satellite ?
I wanted to get it .So trying to get info if it can work
 
Yes, the Russian beams are good on my 1.2 but also acheived on an 85cm a few miles west of me. Best thing to aim for is the radio cluster on 12742H. All this assumes you have a nice low horizon.
 
I get it fine here on a 1m Orbital but, as aceb said, you do need a nice clear low horizon and since it is so low on the horizon, you can expect massive signal variations with even minor obstacles - for me here though, I get 12658H and 12742H fine and have occasionally got reception of Aktau on 12624H too. If you can get 66E, it might even be worth trying 68.5E since for me anyway, it's the stronger bird - but even lower on the horizon of course!
 
Receiving the Mir transponder OK here in South West England on an 85cm dish. As far78 says, try for 68.5E first as it's a much stronger satellite of the two.
 
i am a novice .. dont know even to fix the dish but will try.. But i think it is difficult to get in london right? We need a clear view ...
So London most of the places there are buildings...
and need a big dish 120 cms right?


Those who are getting.. : Are you getting indian channels or is it only russian ones...
Not sure what all comes to this side...Ku band is ruled out right?
 
Assuming you have a line of sight (check dishpointer), something like 1m or 1.2m will work in London on Russian beam in Ku band. I am receiving a couple of transponders on my 85cm dish further west, so the signal will be slightly stronger in London.

For Indian channels you need a C band set up. The signal looks relatively strong but you would still need something like 1.8m. Hmmm, actually, can anyone receive C band from this satellite in UK? I mean it's definitely possible but not sure of the dish size required.

Either way, you either need to be on a roof/balcony of a tall-ish building with nothing in the way or you won't get anything.

The max size i could get in market is 1.3metres(4 feet) .Is it illegal to have a bigger disg? I dont see any seller selling more than 1.3 m .
Any one getting signals from IS 17??????
 
Maybe you could say what channels you are trying to get before jumping to conclusions. You've had several very good answers here re IS-17 so I've no idea how to respond.

You'll need planning permission, a 3-4m diameter dish and a visible horizon of 6° to your SE and no, there's no point trying anything smaller, not even a 2.4m Fortec Star.

Here in the UK a 1m dish is the biggest you can have without planning permission. :D

In theory yes, although i never got planning permission for my 1.2m and never had any problems, and i live opposite the council offices!
 
Fair point - you can sometimes stretch things especially if you live in a quiet spot, but our original poster certainly wont get away with hiding a 4m dish in his garden :D

Any satellite having foot-print over Aberdeen which telecasts Malayalam channels? Thank U for your valuable information.

Intelsat 17 in C-band is the only fta option:

A poor choice for the UK as it will be VERY low on the eastern horizon, and will require at least a 3m dish to receive due to the low transmission power this far west. So basically forget it.

A quick scan of this one tonight suggests that the MIR transponder on 12658H has gone. Everything else as normal, in fact there's even a feed up from Moscow 24 on one of the regular channels, 12604H 1024 7/8. ID is Tandberg Service.

Maybe it was gone while you looked, but now all is fine!
