Intelsat losses continue
Intelsat reported record quarterly revenues of $546 million (€371.86m) in the third quarter to September 30, 2007, but the 3% growth failed to stem a net loss at the satellite operator of $42.6 million. Results for the nine-month period to September 30, 2007 reported revenue of $1,607.6 million and a net loss of $189.3 million.
In the third quarter, transponder services revenue decreased by $0.4 million to $413.5 million, caused by unusually high termination fees of $11.7 million during Q3 2006. With the fees excluded the segment actually increased by $11.3 million. This is also reflected in the nine-month period where transponder services revenue increased by $419.6 million to $1,220.2 million.
The acquisition of a majority stake in the company by private equity house BC Partners is on track and scheduled to complete by the first quarter of 2008.
