over the last few evenings ive been getting the above error when driving dish east....vbox makes a clicking sound, but throws error.

its one of those SMR-128G motors

if i power cycle vbox, its ok again.

something is failing - its been fine for ages.

Could be the motor starting to seize up, I had a 128 do that in the past..

anything to try to prevent total seizure? grease the micro switches or something?

It might not be that. Try some Lubricant around the drive shaft where it enters the casing, otherwise it's a strip it down and grease the gears job.

maybe its the motors way of saying, crack on with the 1.8m installation and leave me alone.

Swap the motor wires around on the V-Box and see if the error still occurs when the dish is moving east (by pressing the west button on the V-Box as movement will be reversed). It will screw up your stored positions but that should be fixable using the recalculate function.

If the error still occurs when the dish is moving east then suspect the motor, if it's reversed then it's probably the V-Box.

swapped over vbox today (super jack vbox ii without remote - did the positions via E2) and so far, so good.....

I have an error 2 problem with my less than a year old Superjack EZ-6000 which is a standalone control box. The old V-box popped it´s clogs literally , could hear the capacitors pop before its death. According to the extensive manual! Err2 is no pulses.
Assuming the error code is the same on your box, I can´t understand it only failing in one direction unless it was a box fault. If the reed had failed you should get the same error in either direction.
Should you need a remote, I may have a spare which should work when my new box arrives from Latvia, not Riga.
If I have the same problem, it´s on the roof with a gas soldering iron to replace the reed switch on the motor!

Is the dodgy V-Box from SSS, if so it should have some kind of warranty?

No, the V-box was second hand from a friend. the new SuperJack box I bought to replace it ( the current faulty one? ) I bought from an online company from Denmark. Couldn´t find one for love nor money anywhere else at the time, however I do have an email address for the owner of the company. Just need to find out where the fault lies before I complain.
Interestingly the remote for the new SuperJack is exactly the same as the Allsat V-box, both remotes work the new box.
I´ll upload a pic of the remote shortly

no mate- amazon - i have been in touch = need to call the 3rd party seller on monday.

Sorry, misunderstanding about the dodgy box!
Anyway, here´s the remote which might drive it

thanks @Pug1964 - let me know....thanks.

Interesting name change

just an update on this issue - since changing to the spare SuperJack VBOX II without remote control - i haven't had any issues, so thankfully - i dont think the motor was at fault, just the VBOX

I didnt actually realise the dish/motor could be driven from the Enigma2 positioner menu (when using a VBOX with a passback to receiver), i got so used to USALS - i forgot the basics

EER2 in one direction is mainly one stucked relay in the Vbox , sometimes tapping with the back of a screwdriver on the relays solves the problem for the moment

Just in the process of swapping the relays in my VBox today due to the same fault, alot of these units have very poor quality components.

what are the relays, can they be cleaned up? mines only 6 months old, should i be bothering fiddling or demanding a refund.

Those blocks E W marked , also available in black
