Internet Access Methods

Hi ppl , wondering if anybody has a lot experience with internet access methods and used it a lot for personal use at home . What is the best method to access internet by the following methods :-

1 - Dial-UP Internet

2 - DSL Internet

3 - Cable Internet

4 - Satellite Internet

Regarding the following below :-

1 - Cost of service

2 - Speed of sending / receiving data

3 - Reliability

4 - Security

Any thought you would have be greatly appreciated .

I have just signed up to bulldog broadband, which has had alot of negativity, but o found the experiance absolutely fabulous,
Im surfing on 4mb broadband, the only drawback might be is you have to switch your fone line to bulldog aswell.

If you do order 2 things to check first!!!
1= how far you are from Local Exchange Area and wether u can even get 4mb, (make sure your only about 2km at the most! away from the local exchange area.
2= tell me so i can get referred and get some casholine knocked off :)

I think rolfw maybe with them im not too sure, cos ive seen his name along the BD forums :)
 
Yep, I'm with them as well, found them to offer a good service, but their accounting etc is a bit of a shambles.

With regard to which are the best broadband methods, if you can receive ADSL or Cable, then forget dialup, ISDN or Satellite.

Costs on these will be unique to your country of origin, with perhaps the exception of satellite 1 ro 2 way.

The 2Km problem can now be overcome by the company we use at work
zen.co.uk offer an extended reach service now. The reports of the service are very favourable especially from remote villages where the cost of recabling to the exchange was restrictive.
 
Iv'e been with bulldog for 2 years and they were taken over by a cable company a few months ago thats why their accounting is a shambles but that does'nt detract from their service which apart from the manchester bt problem has been excellent. I am only on 512k though.
