Best LNB for offset dish is Inverto Black Ultra, except those professional, which most users know. What if this offset lnb could be used for the antenna Prima Focus if we could mount some scalar rings on it?, but most importantly, with what results?
Here with the help of conical scalar ring for LNB , 4 Rings ,mounted on Inverto Black Ultra ,I managed to achieve exceptional results .I did a comparison between Inverto Flange for antenna PF and Inverto Black Ultra for antenna offset, now used for the first antenna. It is a cheap solution when the signal is weak or at the limit:
As an important detail, with this combination{offset Inverto Black with conical scalar ring} I managed to receive a transponder from the Astra's UK spot:10906 V with 1.5 m dish!

Yep, BUs are known for being great performers... Many conversions done on these with great success.

What is the LNB you're comparing it against? Inverto flange...but which?

Nice results.
I have a 150 cm PF dish with a C-band LNB in the focalpoint, now I have a Ku-LNB attached to the side of the scalar ring.
I have used this Alps-LNB (0,7 dB?):
B398003.jpg

I am wondering if I could get better results with another LNB (with lower noisefigure) and if I should buy a pointfeed (like the ALPS) again like a Inverto Black MultiConnect Single LNB:
B230191.jpg

Or (even if it's not mounted in the focalpoint of the dish) a Inverto Black Ultra LNB with or without the scalar rings like mentioned in this thread.

Hi Captain Jack,
This LNB white - I used it for years, because he gave the best results in weak signals. This is the reason why I compared with Black Ultra, plus that is the same brand. But the most important thing in this comparison, is the fact that Inverto Black Ultra in combination with conical scalar 4 ring gives the best results on Prima Focus antenna, and if we consider that it is made for offset dish, is quite extraordinary.I think that Inverto Black Ultra with this conical scalar beat all Ku-band LNBs{even Invacom flange} for symmetrical antennas!
For example, look and compare the signal from Inverto White flange with the Inverto Black Ultra obtained with with conical scalar on Astra 2E at 10906:5% with the first-White, and with Black-28%,with the same 1.5 m dish, well adjusted! You have to admit it's an extraordinary performance.I recommend you to try it , you will see that you have better signal with Inverto Black Ultra on the antenna Prima Focus.
If you have any doubts, I post now another picture that clearly shows the signal difference between the two LNBs.
Regards

what is it ?
it look same side like c band but it ku band
what about ring of feed ?

Good question!I've never talked about these scalar rings because I did not wanted to advertise the online store from where I bought it.Actually it online from AliExpress and is called just like that: "the Conical Scalar Ring for LNB, Signal Enhancement, Mounting Brackets, Prime Focus LNB Dish Get Ku-band Signal".It comes with a tube in which,if you will, you can installed lnb Ku band on the scale of C-band rings.
The fitting procedure is very simple , as you can see from the pictures.Because LNB Black Ultra has a narrow shoulder, you have to give two or three threaded holes on scaling rings to secure the lnb! That's about all you have to do.It is a simple solution, efficient and cheap which gives outstanding results with Inverto Black Ultra.
Equally well this scale rings can be mounted, for example on an Invacom lnb offset.I have not yet tried, but I will make another time. But I think that no lnb for Ku-band does beat Inverto Black Ultra offset with these rings mounted. If you do these tests with scale rings and Black Ultra, please tell us what results you obtain.

great mod
catching 10.906V with only 1.5 m prime focus Is very good
have you tried to cut Inverto BU feed that Is only for offset dish to save cilindr neck and to use It with scalar - that way you have shorter length and less attenuation
do you receive 10.906V 28.2 E all the time
where exactly are you located

It is a good idea, I think, but because it was the first time when I was doing tests with such modified lnb.I wanted to have a good result, and besides that, it was the only one that I have.Another occasion I will implement this idea.
Naturally, not all the time I get this transponder, in fact the only one on Astra 2E.And I must add that only with this Inverto Black Ultra with scalar rings I could catch Astra 2E.Have to say that on this satellite signal increases at night and reaches its maximum at around 03: 00 in the morning, after which greatly decreases until it can no longer be lock throughout the day.But at that hour of the night I have signal on most sub-band transponders but not enough to enable it to be used.To get an idea, here's what the signal strength on these transponders:

thank you for reply
you did not tell us location
did you machine yourself that feedhorn what Is material - copper or brass
Is your TBS6925 with most sensitive tuner or some of yours receivers

In my profile is mentioned my location:Romania, more precisely Transylvania.
Screw holes I gave myself, but I must confess that I am not sure if it is copper % or brass.I think the outer layer is copper , but the core is made of plastic .It seems so.The drill came very easily into the material.
The receiver in the picture has very sensitive tuner, but the problem is that it lock the signal from a certain threshold.I used this time because my tuner indicate signal instantly. The green color on the level and quality bar shows me that I have signal from Astra 2E. And was possible only with LNB Inverto Black Ultra;with other Inverto, white, I had no signal.I have some other sensitive tuners but of all only with TBS6925 card I could locked signal on 10906 V.Indeed the tuner card is the best when you have signal to the limit.
Keep us on the topic , the combination of LNB Inverto Black Ultra and scalar ring is a solution for many positions or situations when the signal is weak. From my experience with many LNBs for antenna PF, the most spectacular is the Inverto Black with scalar ring.If you do test,I expect feedback.

for a pfa dish feedhorn have to be outside scalars - other way you are not iluminating dish precisely
chance Is to have very flat dish
In my setup I use Inverto BU twin which have very long neck and you can move scalar rings to tune f/d
but Huevos said that Inverto BU single Is much better than twin regarding Astra 2E

I was testing SNH-031 and Inverto BU with my 3m prime dish.
SNH-031 was 2db better than BU (without special feed)(2E 12363V, no lock in UK B )
I will do more tests soon..!

One question satesco : will your solution work also well on normal offset dish, for example Gibertini or Laminas ? I see that Aliexpress is advertising for prime focus dish.
Do you have a possibility to test that ?

Humaxboy

Hi Humanboy,

Of course I tested on the offset dish, but I did not expect good results.Well , that's the trick , as these rings scale works only on pfa!If you mounted them on offset dish comes out a disaster. It is explainable,if you look in one of my pictures{#6}, you will see that the waveguide of these scalar rings is too narrow for the antenna offset,it has cylindrical shape made exactly for prime focus,is directive, whereas the LNB offset is conical , made to capture even the signal side.

samoloko said:

Huevo is right, from my experience with Inverto twin, Inverto Black singles with flange or Invacom flange, the best results over the years on Astra 2D, 1N, 2F ,I have obtained with Inverto White flange{#4} .Here's main reason for which I have done comparisons between Inverto Black Ultra with scalar rings and Inverto White with the flange. But about that we can talk about forever for each have different experiences with these LNBs or others.
And there's one more detail, which in many cases give us some food for thought:not all of the series of LNBs have same build quality even of the same brand. It is also a matter of luck, like at many electronic products produced by Chinese. But that's another discussion...

Very interesting thread indeed, to all thanks.

Satesco, I see one of the files attached shows 'ANTENNAS ADJUSTMENT ver. 1.0.3.4'

¿Is this commercial software available to people or part of a package, I cannot seem to find it!?

Myself I use the TBS5925 USB and are looking for alternative tools etc to try.

Thank you and all enjoy your weekend. :)

Hi lovelyperson,

"The file" in question is actually an application/utility to check signal on whole spectrum, blindscan, but also for the lnb calibration, called so:SatSpectr ,and is developed by a Russian enthusiast;his nickname in russian is:странник,in english-wanderer.
Fortunately the application is free and can be downloaded from this Russian site .The only condition to download it is to register on that forum. There are many interesting discussions about how to use this utility. There are many versions of this utility updated.
Here's how show interface of this utility after scanning the whole spectrum;and then makes a blindscan at 28.2E.You can choose other options of calibration or blind scanning.I'm leaving you pleasure to discovered it yourself.

Wow, thanks for that satesco.....good bit to read there....amazing how this hobby generates and provides such satisfaction.

We are lucky that every day is different for us.

Again thank you and be safe. :)

what size feed golden color prime focus ?

I'm going to be testing the IBU with that scalar ring soon and I'll post my results! Are there any tips for the conversion process in order not to screw up ? Thanks :)
