Advice Needed Inverto MultiConnect optimized for 28E

Hi all,

I've decided to simplify my setup due to slight dish misalignment, old chimney brackets, and no longer care for motorized. I currently have the Fraccaro Penta 68 Digit, and may upgrade for the Fraccaro Penta 85 if my tree problem persists on 28E.

I live in Nantes, France, and because of some trees (which have grown) there is a borderline limit according to the dish pointer app. 23.5E and further south are totally fine (boy, life is ironic).

I've ordered an Invento Multiconnect, and want to receive 28E, 23.5E, 19E and 13E. Usually, you would set this up with 19E on the principle/central LNB for the dish, and offset the others either side of it. However, because I want to be sure to have the best alignment for 28E (which is weaker than the other satellites), I'm thinking of setting up the principle/central LNB as 28E and offsetting the others instead. If then it's physically at the limit for 13E on the extreme edge of the bracket, I would then move the 28E on the other side of the centre part of the bracket, but leave it centered on the dish.

Are my propositions viable, or should I just set the dish up based on 19E like usual ?

Myself if i were in your position i think i might try 23.5E, but you could try 28.2 and see how good hotbird is.
 
I'm more concerned about the trees problem you allude to (Do tell us more - or, if you.ve mentioned it elsewhere, please provide a Link). A bigger dish won't necessarily overcome such issues as you'll likely end up with an even stronger but equally incoherent signal (ie No improvement in Quality).
 
Hey Paul, I like your idea, although my point was being I'd rather be spot on for 28E. Having said that, I will probably start off with 19E as the principle, and if I'm havering issues ill switch to 23.5E and then if needed 28E.

Hey Tivu, I'll get some dish pointer app pics posted a bit later. The trees are borderline. It's really just the edges of the trees (some stray branches). I'm hoping to maybe future proof for future tree growth. I used to get 28E fine on a mulytenne 45cm, eventually upgraded to penta with a motor and everything was fine -- had near 100% quality on the weaker transponders. It just got misaligned with some movement. However, trees do grow !
 
I was just concerned that centred on 28, 15 degrees to hotbird may be a struggle , it's one of those things where you going to have to experiment.
 
Have you considered a different type of dish? Like the wavefrontier T90, which is designed for multiple LNB's.
 
Can you move the dish? A few feet might mean you miss the tree.
 
Hi Paul, yeah your idea is a good one :-) ill experiment starting out on 19E I think, moving to 23.5 if needed etc.

Hi Mickha, I've heard of those dishes -- my idea is (probably the slow expensive gradual route), but I plan to reset my original dish on a plumb pole, try the Invento multiconnect that I just ordered and hope all is well. If not then upgrade dish size.

Hi analoguesat, the dish is on the chimney. I have 4 corners to choose from, with two orientations on each corner depending on how I orientate the bracket. I may move the dish -- my current feeling is i will keep on the same corner, but put the new chimney bracket in the other direction so it's parallel to the side of the house, closer to the front of the house, and further away from the trees. However, this may actually move the line of site slightly into the trees on the left. The dish pointer app (once the dish is down and not interfering with he phone) should help me !

Even if you fix it now you are going to have more problems in a few years as the trees grow.

You need to completely relocate the dish into an area with clear line of sight.
 
I can only put it on the chimney really :-(
Maybe I'll go higher up the pole.
I can't put it on the back of the house as that's closer to the trees.
Putting it on the front of the house on a big pole would be nasty and I'd probably need to go higher up the pole on the front of the house, than the one on the chimney.

We'll probably move in the next few years (been there over 10 years now), so if we do move I'll be sure to take that dish pointer app with me !

I'm slow responding to this, and seldom post here, but I thought I'd add my experience with the Inverto multiconnect.
I'm using one on a fixed 85cm dish in the south east of France. The dish is aligned on 28E (being the weakest signal), and the prime lnb is fitted at one end of the curved metal bar. LNB's for 19 and 13 both hang off to one side. I adapted the standard set up to achieve this and fitted an extra support bracket to carry the weight of the offset lnb's. I can get a decent signal on Astra 2 without break-up, and adequate for my needs from hotbird. Note that the fixing bolt on the lnb screws into plastic (or it did when I bought it), and isn't the most robust fixing. Don't overtighten!

All may change of course when 2E lights up - I'm thinking of upgrading to a 1m Gilbertini in the absence of a 1m Penta. I don't wish to overspend since it's not my main residence.
