Inverto Ultra twin

My Satellite Setup
Vu Duo2,1.2 CM,1224 H to H 57E-30W. Sky dish.
My Location
Cheshire
I'm using a CM feedforn with twin outputs at the moment and I'd like to try and squeeze a bit more out of the dish on the weaker stuff.
I do have a spare single Inverto ultra sat in the garage which I could try. What I'd like to know is, do the twin ultras have a shorter neck?
Also, is it possible to use the single and split the signal between the two tuners?
 
If we are talking about the Black Ultra LNBs then I don't agree, I think the neck is shorter on the twin. I also find the twin to be significantly worse compared to the single version.

Edit: Just been out to measure them. Black Ultra single neck is 7cm long, Black Ultra twin is 4.75cm long.

On my CM120 there isn't much room for adjustments with the twin in place.

How do you find the ultra on this dish, are they any better than the matched feedhorn?
 
jase1, hope you don't mind me adding to this, I had a CM 1.8m with matched feed horn and when CJ visited we tried it with a 'single' Inverto black Ultra and there was zero difference in performance, this was based on testing of 7.3w

To be honest I haven't really tested them too much as the dish is fixed on 1W and the signal is decent so not worried about the LNB as long as it does the job.

When I had it set on 7W for a test, I compared a Black Ultra single and a Black Ultra twin and the single out performed the twin by several % on many transponders. I haven't got a proper matched CM feedhorn to compare it with though.

There's a common consensus that the matched feedhorn with a good LNB (which? open to debate) will slightly outperform a bog standard Black Ultra on a 1.8m CM dish.

On a 1.2m (and I tried this personally), the standard Black Ultra outperformed a matched feedhorn + LNB. I tried the matched feedhorn with several LNBs, Black Pro C120, Inverto White and the converted Black Ultra.

I think it does depend on individual circumstances but that's the general feeling that I get.

If you remember you tested a single Inverto black Ultra on my cm 1.8m and compared against matched feedhorn with inverto black c120 and we saw no difference :-wow
 
Yeah, I remember that - there was very little, if any, difference. It was a very quick test, though ,on a couple of frequencies on 7W.

If that's the case in most other installations then I wouldn't really want to recommend a CM feedhorn, considering the $£ it costs new.
 
I do have a feedhorn but never done any test, from my reading the Inverto black Ultra is just as good, i am using inverto black ultra quad at the moment and appear to be getting the same results as the twin.

No I dont mind at all. Thats interesting, thats one sat I would like a little bit more on.

I think once we get a half decent weekend, I'll put the single ultra on and see what the results are.

I'll post the results.

As you can see the twin has a shorter neck! Hope this helps :)

i did run a ibu twin when i had my gibby 1,25m up and it was better on some txp,s and worse on others than the matched feedhorn and c120 black pro twin. guess its a case of what you require on your set up and trial and error with your own stb/tuner, cable type/run, local rf noise ect ect ect
