Iran broadcasting ban lifted .

The USA has lifted its ban on broadcasting links with Iran’s state broadcaster ( IRIB ) . The decision follows on from positive meetings in Geneva before Christmas where various agreements were made. The ban has been lifted for a period of 6 months, although Washington will re-evaluate the situation in 60 days and measure performance.

The ‘Geneva Convention’ was signed by the US, UK, France, German, China and Russia. Further meetings are scheduled for later in February.

The accord came about after an unnamed senior US official said that Washington had determined that “harmful satellite interference” was not currently emanating from Iran.

The report adds that these countries could now provide the IRIB with their services without being exposed to US penalties. There is – as yet – no word on what this means for IRIB-backed Press TV and whether European and other satellite operators can carry Press TV’s channels.

So , all of Irib's channels (25 tv & 27 radios) came back to Intelsat 902 @ 62° East ( 11555 V 30000 2/3 DVB-S2/8PSK MPEG-4 Spot-1 MiddleEast Beam )

IRIB at least used to also show domestic films with English subtitles. I did happen to see some that were rather amusing like(I think) this one - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0822003/ .

Found first time 2 days ago by hendrik1972, it's on and off intermittently. Now it's off...
Either IRIB is pirating again an unused transponder, or this is just testing...

Not great picture quality - the video bit rateas are fairly low.

IRIB 1 2 & 3 are just 1500kbps....

Transmissions have now ceased maybe a technical problem as the sound was corrupted on most channels.

Back again now sound problems sorted on some channels.

Picture quality a bit better with 25 tv channels + radio very high compression rates in use.

No, I scanned thirty seconds ago: 25 TV plus 27 Radio.

Quality bar jumping wildly, but Strength solid.
