Hey guys :)

A question from a Danish guy living i Valencia, Spain.. (newbie)

I was wondering if it would be possible to track down “Sirius 2 and 3 NORDIC BEAM".

Maybe with a Dish that measures 240cm it could be done. I´ve cheched the footprint of the sattelite, and i have to say it dossent look good. I´ve really been looking into a lot of other threads, but i´ve only been able to confirm that people are able to get the signal in Germany and Belgium, (with 120cm). Another thing is that they do also have another beam "EUROPE BEAM". This footprint is a lot bigger and almost covers all of europe. But the thing is, that my fav. channels are to be found on the "NORDIC BEAM".

I really hope somebody will be able to give me some top advice on how to handle this installation. Thanks in advance

René

Thanks for the links :)

Yesterday i passed by some of the same links and the thing is (about the NORDIC beam), some people says good signal and others... no signal at all?

Maybe i think some of the people (good signal) could be confused about the EUROPE beam and the NORDIC beam. But anyway, i really dont know if i should take the chance, and find a good solid dish 240 cm. It would be sad to have a Dish on that size without a proper function, heh.

Thanks again!

I have tried a 180cm Precision dish in Southern France around Nice, i couldn't get a lock on Sirius.

It's way too weak down there, i assume it will be even weaker down in Spain.

Maybe a 4 meter or 5 meter dish would get a signal lock in Spain.

Thanks Likvid,

No less can do it! Thats a huge dish we are talking about... I think iam only willing to go for the 240, heh. But seems to me that i have to forget the idea of my fav channels. Thats a shame, but iam open for any suggestions, if anyone have had a posetive experience in south europe.

There must be some danish residents i Soutern Spain who have dealt with the same situation...:)

Try some of the popular tourist hotels down there and ask.

Ye, i know... but i was really hoping that it would be possible, heh. :)

Tomorrow we are going to install a dish for the Intelsat 10-02, (Dr Sydeuropa). For the time being, thats maybe the best we can do! - The only sad thing is that there will only be 2 danish channels available on this satellite.

Maybe with 240 and the distance between Alicante and Valencia, Aprox. 180 Km. - Nah, i dont think so....

Well, ill have a look at the link deepblue posted. Maybe i can find something on a spanish sat forum.

U installed the Dish for the Intelsat on your own Lovelyperson?

Difference in signal gain between 1.8 and 2.4 isn't huge.

You need to get past 3 meter and above to get some major gain.

Why not try a Prodelin 3.7m or 4.5m dish?

They come in petals and are easy to assemble.

:) Yes you will not have a problem, suggest set up using one of the frequencies using an SR of 27500 ie:

12527 H 27500 3/4
12562 H 27500 3/4
etc

once locked on you can check the 'quality' readings by entering the other frequencies with the lower SR/FEC ratings etc, all found on the lyngsat site at:

For Intel 10-02 only: _http://www.lyngsat.com/i1002.html
For all at 1ºW: _http://www.lyngsat.com/1west.html

Here, south of you, receiving Intel 10-02 with 1x lnb and 5ºE + 7ºE both on 1x lnb, all ok with one 90cm as photo attached.

Best of luck to you.

Haha, i would really like to try it!! - The thing is that the dish would be a huge cost, and iam not even sure it would work with 3.7 or 4.5m.

Another thing is that my wife would kill me if i covered up the whole garden, swimmingpool, etc. with my passion for the Nordic Beam.....:)

I´ve bought the package from Radio Solymar with card, reciever... the whole package, so i dont think there will be any problems in installing it.

Anyways, thanks alot for your advise... If the guy from the shop are going to have a problem with installing it, i will pass on your informations for the orientation etc.

Thanks

You could always set up a solution based on Slingbox which tunnels IP-TV streams over the net to your place.

If you got a friend or place in the Nordics you could stream the channels from there and control it with a remote control from Spain.

Pretty neat, they reviewed it on Sky News this week.

Likvid have you tried the slingbox system ? Things look like that they are the best solution for all that cannot install a (big) dish and have a broadband flatrate.
