Is this really worth the £800 to £1000 that it costs?

Would owners of the DM8000 HD say that it was worth the best part of £1000 that you spent on it?

I would say No unless you are going to make use of all the capabilities it can offer that is to say...DVD Drive - Wifi - Twin Tuners - 2x Plug&Play Tuners Slots - 2xSmartCard Reader and 4xCommon Interface etc.etc (And I would still say the price is exorbant). Otherwise an DB800HD or DM500 would be sufficient.

I asked myself this very same question before I bought mine, in the end I thought, sod it, I'm diving in and buying it, and I have to say, I'm glad I did, the features are endless, I am learning something new everyday, and with plugin after plugin there is no end...

Still though, I need to figure out how and what plugin to use to get my blu ray/dvd recorder drive to record my recordings from my hdd which I installed, to dvd, the player I've installed plays dvds though..

So I would say, if you have the cash spare, go for it, Remember, a Sky+hd box is nothing compared to the 8000

Very good box if you can afford it, But you can incorperate all your blu ray/dvds into a decent pc with extra hard drives HD video card e.t.c and connect to a DM 800 as a server and still have hundreds of £ sods of left over.

I think the picture quality of my DM8000 is not quite as good as the QBoxHD but there again the QBoxHD has been put back in its box and is used as a doorstop as it has to many other problems. I have had no problems with the DM8000 and everything works as it should using a Pli image.............works for me anyway. Better finish than some receivers and oozes quality although it could have benefited from a colour LCD. £850 is a lot of money but I have no children no grandchildren, don't smoke and don't drink.................just a sad old git really:)

I love mine also it's fully loaded but I never use the dvd drive just record to the hard drive, I would'nt buy a clone to save money I prefer to have a genuine DM. My image is slow though being enigma 2 I would love a more stable and responsive image than the one I am using, paid the full price for it, if I was to sell I would let it go for £700.00 complete with the mature content on the HD.
