My trusty HTC Sensation that has served me well for years despite me buying it second hand, has finally started to exhibit signs of terminal illness, prompting me to look for a replacement. In the end as money is tight I have gambled and taken the plunge and delved into the Chinese market place, having read some good reviews I placed the order on Ebay. The phones are actually in Germany and despite me ordering on Tuesday on a 48 hour delivery, it was not until Thursday that the phone was despatched via DEDHL to Parcelforce in the UK. It arrived there yesterday evening at 6.30pm and was transported to my local depot in Preston overnight on their 24 hour Express service and now shows loaded to van for delivery. Not wanting to miss delivery but needing to go out, I telephoned to find out when they would normally deliver to Blackburn area only to be told that it would not be delivered until Monday. I naturally expressed by disappointment in the strongest terms possible but with actually swearing as all calls are recorded. I think this is pisspoor and Parcelforce is unfortunately typical of the type of companies bringing the UK to it's knees. Customer service never has been up there in the UK as long as I can remember, it seems that we have now hit new lows where a 48 hour service actually takes 6 days

I have always found the last mile of an overseas purchase by Parcelforce leads to an unacceptable delay, thereby breaking the original contract promise.

What did your seller claim in the auction over delivery ?

Both my wife and I have HTC Sensations (XE and XL Beats). What are you doing with the old one? Is it suitable as spares?

And you're right. Delivery was very poor.

In light of my MS situation ...I rely more and more on postal delivery services ...both for personal use and in my business ..such as it is..
More and more I am let down or disappointed with delivery services within the UK ..
A couple of cases in point ..
A few weeks back I ordered a psu panel for a customer TV repair ..which was posted and entered the 'chain' on the same day I ordered 10x 2.5v smd regulators from HK ...
8 days later the psu panel arrived ..the 10x regulators had arrived a day earlier..
Granted this was a much smaller jiffy ...but still ..
7 days from China ..and 8 days for a UK internal parcel delivery.
Wotz going on here ??
The other day I ordered a QARL 3624 superjack from SS ...having included 2 addresses ...in my order..
The Shop and my home address ..
They are literally 3 doors apart and so I can see the delivery van from either location easily..
I am usually at home till 1PM after which I am at the shop..
So I thought this would actually make it easier to deliver..
Shortly after placing the order I received an email from SS asking me to contact them and clearly define which address to deliver to ..?
Apparently Parcel force would find it too difficult to accomodate 2 adresses 20 yards apart ..so I had to select one or the other.
I could understand the problem if it were streets away but it aint.
Everyday life having become a box ticking exercise with no margin (boxes) to tick for anything which does not conform.
Can folk not think for themselves any more ?
Anyway ..
hopefully I will get my actuator monday ..but will have to go sit in my shop from 8AM till 8PM just to make sure I get it..
Doh!

I like to use DPD, where possible, as they use an electronic tracking system, you not only get a confirmation, of the day your parcel will be delivered, you also get a delivery time, emailed to you, on the morning, of delivery, with a 1 hour time window, and the option to alter delivery, either to a different address, or, as in my case, an option to leave the parcel in a secure location.

Hi Paul unfortunately it has already been allocated to a family member who is in great need, otherwise you could have, but if I hear of one going spare I will let of course you know.

No probs. Thanks anyway.

I liked to rant about Citylink (delivering to wrong addresses mainly), but, my wish came true and they went bust, so I have little to rant about courier-wise... :(

Well, I suppose there's the "Parcel left in bin" cards through the door, that's a PITA, after all, climbing into a near-empty 240 Litre, unwashed, exceptionally smelly wheelie bin isn't pleasant or dignified in the slightest, assuming it's not bin day and you don't find the card 'til after they've been emptied...:-doh

What phone did you buy Topper? I have been a Chinese smartphone buyer/user for 5 years plus now, currently using my missus old Chinese phone as I sold my Xiamoi Red Note because we are honestly that hard up thanks to this country being such a #*+@hole, any that's another story! lol

I have just had a very apologetic message from the seller, he apologises but they had run out of stock in the UK, hence the extended delivery from Germany which obviously takes a tad longer.
5'' Android 5.1 4G LTE CUBOT X12 QUAD CORE Dual SIM Mobile Smart Phone UNLOCKED, I will just have to wait until Monday but seeing as I am out it may be Wednesday before I have it powered up

Aw nice, part of the new rift of Mediatek 64 bit based phones, judging by the spec the battery life should be pretty good as well.

Just an update, the phone is great, battery life is great although no doubt the current 3 day life will reduce as I add more apps. I had a problem initially as no config files for a CUBOT could be sent OTA from Tesco, but eventually they sent me the config files for an Android Samsung, 5.2 which worked fine. The seller was apologetic especially when I informed him I could not charge it with the European plug that was sent with it from Germany and within 48 hours I had a replacement one for use in the UK. Just used the sat-nav on it and will have to change the American accent of the lady providing directions (hope I can).

Sounds like a nice purchase Topper. Lucky to get a helpful phone seller on ebay, heard and read awful stories of ebay phone sellers.
