Hi guys,
I have a MVISION 9080 usb and I want to update the softcam key. I get to the Menu, then smartcard, then I press softcam (green button on the remote) but the receiver stays on "Please wait" mode forever.... Anyone has any idea of what am I doing wrong? Is it possible that I am using a not supported USB pen drive? If this is the case, does anyone know which usb stick works?

Thank you!!

I am not acquainted with the MVISION 9080 usb receiver, but I will try to help you by making few silly suggestions. Hopefully one of them might be a tip in the right direction.
1 - Is the Canal Digittal smartcard shown in your profile official?
2 - When did you install the USB flash stick and is there a need to format it.
Check how to format it if this was just installed recently without doing anything to it..
3 - I use SanDisk Cruser Micro Flash 2GB and it works well in the DreamBox 7000S.
4 - Try to update without the Canal Digitaal smartcard, assuming it is official. Shut the box first, take the card out, unplug the power cord, wait five minutes and then try to update.
5 - Does the MVISION 9080 usb have an Ethernet connector at the back like a Dreambox or not?
This might enable the updating using an FTP application.

Update:
6 - Assuming that windows format is compatible, try to update the file by inserting the USB stick in your PC, browse with Windows Explorer and if you see the file, try to edit it using a text editor.
Then plug it into your receiver.

Update 2:
7 - Are you sure that it is possible to update the file using the remote?
Also, how do you know that you have a file on the USB stick.
Try to locate it using suggestion #6 and if it is not there, try to create it by pasting a working file.

Good Luck.:-csmile

Hey HB13DISH,
Thank you for your post. Yes my Canal Digitaal card is official, and yes, there is an ethernet port for updates at the back of the Mvision. The When I go into the Smart card menu there are 5 Options:
CARD: SECA ; NAGRA BOXKEY ; OPTION ; KEY MANAGER ; RESET DATA.

Going into the Key Manager it shows 7 Systems, which are
System 1: Irdeto/Beta
System 2: Viaccess
System 3: Seca
System 4: Nagra
System 6: BISS (there is no System 5 for some reason)
System 7: Cryptoworks
ETC: TPS AES key

at the bottom says "Green" SOFTCAM "Yellow" NETKEYS and "Blue" Keys URL.

I will try the way you explained, maybe it works.

Thanks
Antonio

First question - are you trying to open extra channels with the softcam or is it for use with the CD card?

I am not sure that this box has an Ethernet connector. It is probably an RS-232 connector for serial communication and firmware updates.
A photo of the back of the box can give us a beeter picture of what you have.
Concentrate on the USB stick files content, formatting and PC browse.
Updating with remote can be done later when you are sure about what you actually have.
The format can be important, since these USB sticks might have a backup software on them since they are intended to be used with Windows for storage. When using it in STB the software might get in the way.

Hi there,
1.- The card is official
2.- I don't know if I need to format the USB stick. I am also using a SandDisk micro 2.0
3.- My Mvision HAS an ethernet connection at the back. This box is prepared for cardsharing, one of the reasons why I bought it.
4.- I can see the keys in the softcam file with the notepad in my computer.
5.- I can also modify keys for any provider/encryption via remote. I just don't know if I am doing it right. The menus are very easy, but i don't get any result.

Still I cannot make it work.... any other suggestions?? Thanks for the help, and Happy Xmas.

Just make a simple test.
If you are watching an encrypted channel on Hot Bird 13E, write down the latest key, modify one of the numbers or the alphabet with either the remote or the PC, shutdown box, restart.
If the channel disappers, then updating is possible.
Retype the key as before and hopefully it will open.

Hi again, and thanks for not losing the patience with me. When you mean Hotbird i guess you don't mind Astra 19E, and as for the keys, do you mean going into the keys from the official CD card?

Cheers

Astra is fine, as long as you have a channel which has a working key in the softcam file. It would help if you tell us which channel you tried to update.
No, I am not talking about the official Canal Digitaal card. It should be open all the time until the validity expires.

The whole issue was the firmware that I had was for another model. Sorted now. There are two MVision 9085, one has FCIS chipset and the other doesn't.
