It's a satellite dish . . . . or is it?

Never seen those before. Pretty cool, although it seems like a lot of effort having to track the sun.
 
You can get a sensor to track the sun they are very cheap to buy, I was looking at them a while ago with a view to converting the dual axis mounts they use for solar for my 1.8,

I've not seen this dish type before though.

Maybe these things will make it easier to get planning permission - I mean this is a green thing, so should be more appealing to the ounci.
Albeit you seem to need something like a 2.5 meter to get any heating at all, so it might make litle different to 1.5-1.8m people...

Depends how much power you want to achieve I guess. and were you live, a 1.8 in a warm sunny country would create more power than a 2.4 in a cold country, and if you don't have a mount it will be a pain in the backside following the sun around manually for the 2.4 people:rolleyes:.
 
I wouldn't mind having a solar panel tracking the sun, they're more effective when the panel is directly facing the sun at all times, though I'm sure that the panels I'm thinking of would probably just about run the actuators and not leave much to charge batteries... :-rofl2
 
I've not seen this dish type before though.

My 3.7 metre dish, before it was camouflaged.

A colleague looked out of the window of the aircraft just prior to him landing at Heathrow - and saw a pinpoint of brigh light not far from his own house.dish5.webp
