ITV / C4 & possible beam changes affecting fringe reception areas

Since yesterday we have had a 3 dBM increase in signal on:
12480V Ch4, Ch4+1, More4, E4, etc group.
12402V ITV1 (all regions)
All 27500, 2/3

We can now get those channels 24/7, which before were variable.
However, we cannot get Fox News (SKY Ch 506) now, breaking up.

I wonder if the 2A/2B satelites have been repositioned, to get Outer Hebrides etc a better signal, which has also improved the coverage here in Cyprus??!!

Any comments folks?

I hope they spread the footprint the same as 1H-19E receivable on my 80cm in cy

If they did that the uk would lose our signal :-lmao

You forget the Astra 2A/B craft do not have such a wide coverage area as the Astra 1's

12402 and 12480 still clearly received in Peyia, Paphos region Cyprus 7pm local time today 27th.

Varying reports all over.

So, fair to say possible beam footprint shift to more Easterly and/or power output changes of one or both North beams. Certainly keeping this thread active :D

Interesting thread, I came here looking for info as in Finland some Astra 2A and 2B south transponders have got significantly weaker in the last few days. I'm now struggling to pick up some channels 24 hours a day with a 1.8m in Helsinki.

To avoid duplication of info Ive merged this into the existing Cyprus discussion :)
Thanks - I agree it belongs in this thread - but would it not be better to rename the thread to something that says its about the 2A and 2B North Beams - because its seems that what's going on is more than just changes to single transponders.

Yes the signal has definately improved over here in Cyprus. Actually I was in Peyia fixing a dish and while driving back a workmate told me that he got a fantastic reading on his roversat for 12.402 on a 2.7m dish ,and the next job i went to was in Limassol and on the customers 2.4m i tuned it in and ITV came up really good. Then I tuned in 12.480 and that came up perfectly so now we got CH4 and E4 working, so maybe a 1.8 even 1.5 will work. will check tomorrow.

i have just had an interesting conversation with someone who knows most things about whats happening satellite wise and has good "satellite operator connections" who has said that that one of the transponders on the Astra 2B satellite has been expected to go "pop" since about June time.....and thats why one of them was moved to the Astra 2A satellite. he could not remember which of the two it was.
he said the other frequency was done also, but had no explanation as to why...

Sounds entirely plausible.

Its the best we've got so far! :)
