Dreambox 7020S ordered this morning from satstore, vbox2, motor cable and new actuator from Satellite Superstore for the CM 1.2 i bought last year.

Hopefully arrive tomorrow for putting up on the weekend. Just hope the weathers nice, so i can get the 1m down thats bent.

Been waiting for ages to get an 8000 but it keeps getting pushed back. So took the plunge with the 7020. The humax is so slow to change channels, but it's served me well over the years.

Given, that the DB is arriving tomorrow, i thought i'd outline my plan with you guys to make sure i'm going in the right direction.

It makes it slightly difficult as the dish isn't up just yet, but in the mean time heres what i am going to do.

Plug 256Mb CF card i've got spare in (no spare USB Stick and i believe CF is faster than USB but could be wrong)

Switch box on, give static ip.

Leave original image alone, in flash memory.

Use DreamboxEdit to install Cpt Picards settings from June 07.

Use Flashwizard Pro to format CF and set multi boot with Gemini 3.60 as default. (whats everyone using as an image btw?)

Set dish up and learn to use DB / Gemini / Cam installations / diablo using DB.

Then start playing with latest Pli image installing again on CF.

I've left a few steps out but tbh following the "Quick and dirty Guide to Dreambox" seems to have made more sense to me than any of the other Newbie Guides i've read.

Anyone any thoughts, esp on setting up to use the dreambox via the lnb loop through to the vbox2 for diseqc to 36v positioner.

Which is the best image to use atm?

Any other suggestions?

Same here, i gave up on Relook and have now a DM7025 in my home.

I really like it so far.
 
Looks like a good start :)

When U start for the first time the box want´s to know Your setup so fill in what it will be when You are done.

The rest will come to You while U walk the dreambox lane

Used the 5400 non Z since around 2000 for 3 or 4 years before i moved house.

Dreambox & bits arrived this morning with the added bonus of an Access Card 9 which i wasn't expecting. Just waiting on the actuator to arrive and were all set depending on the weather.

Anyone had any problems with formatting CF cards?

Getting the error unable to format CF, CF not found or something similar.

Using FlashWizard Pro 6.3.
Seems the 7020 is only USB 1 so CF would be faster than USB which i'm trying atm.

Hope you'll enjoy it, but what exactly made you give up on the Relook?

I was thinking of buying the 400s from Dubai especially with its price tag being almost half of 7025's.

Gave up with the CF for the time being, and tried using USB stick, formatted and mounted using FlashWizard. Installed Gemini 3.6 onto USB rebooted and DEAD.

Gave up with the original image and used Dreamup to put Pli on flash, all swimming. & installed 200Gb spare disk. All working ok, got Mgcamd to AU on TPS and have had a quick play, so i've got a couple of questions.

Original cards are they chip facing up or down?
How do i activate the original InXtv card that came with the box? All i hear is sound no picture.
In the Web X Tv using the WI on the box, is there anyway to change the audio thats being transmitted? i've changed it on the box but when coming through the WebX it's still foreign.
I've managed to put the pet channel lists on, but somehow i've managed to stop the bouquets being shown on the left and channels on the right, it's all bouquets and i have to click on the ok button to go into list of channels. Anyway to put this back?
Finally, has anyone setup the dreambox with a 36v positioner for the diseqc -> 36v pass thru? what option do you setup the dreambox with?
