I've lost the quick reply entry box

Hi,

ever since about jan 1 2012, I've had a problem with the quick reply entry field - it doesn't appear.
I need to press "advanced" to get a text entry field such as the one I'm typing in now.

I'm running XP Pro with IE8 (If you want to know then because it ain't broke, it's very stable, I've paid for it, and the hardware is unlikely to perform with anything newer from MS.)

I assume it's one of the classic "platform updates", where the underlying software has been updated, and now only works with IE 14, Windows 8 or Firefox v3.x.x.

Or?

The quick reply box was removed months ago after one of the VB Bulletin updates - you have had to press the reply to thread, post quick reply or go advanced buttons.

Ah - I see. That does explain a bit of the symptoms.

but I have the same problems creating a new thread.
All icons etc appears, but I can't type in any text.
there is not white field in the grey box...

(It does work on SWMBOs iMax running firefox, so I guess it's an MS thing).

that's meant to be an iMac not iMax. But I can't edit the reply due to the very same reason.

GRRRRR!

Re-reading you answer it occurs to me that I may not have been entirely clear:

My problem is that I get not text-entry field when I press the "post quick reply" or "Edit post" buttons. I only get a grey rectangle with (some) buttons in it, no means of contributing anything original...

Download Google chrome or Firefox, both are free and will outperform IE8.
