Jaeger 1224 vs polar mount

Is there any advantage of having a Jaeger 1224 motor vs a polar mount and jack? 1224's are very highly regarded but are they really better than a jack?
 
Hasn't the 1224 been replaced by the Moteck H180?
 
Yeah but these are inferior judging by various posts here. But the question applies to that too!
 
The Jaeger 1224 is a lot easier to set up, a lot neater, and is a true H-H motor, which gives more of a range, not that it's really needed.
The Motek H180 is not the same quality, as the Jaeger 1224, so I'd stick with the polar mount, and jack, unless you can find a new SMR Jaeger 1224, at a reasonable price, of course the holy grail is the SMR Jaeger 1224EL, which is extremely difficult to get hold of, as the 1224's are no longer produced and all the stock sold out some time ago.
 
I've got both. I took the 1224 off and replaced it with the polar mount. Polar mount is much more stable. Advantages of the 1224 it counts linear throughout the arc and covers the whole arc (150 degrees) whereas the polar mount vs only cover about 120 degrees.
 
The Jaeger 1224 was much appreciated when it first appeared because it was so compact compared to the usual 18" to 24" jack assembly and was a genuine horizon tracker. People are used to the diseqc motors now but the Jaeger 1224 was revolutionary and the fact it was so robust and did the job so well was the cherry on the cake.

The Moteck H180 does look very poor by comparison.

(Obviously I stuck with my jack arm to save money, it probably still works today).
