looks like 14 years of Conservatives have slowly killed the BBC .... why isn 't there more reactivity from the UK public to keep it higher? Here in France same problem,but more "public" channels,so hiphop will be on France 4 when real classical will be on france 5,or Arte which is Franco-German,which keeps it good.....until now. Would the UK join Arte maybe? Greatly appreciated.... watch lots of stuff from Arte on arte.tv/en/I was looking through the Proms listings for anything «Radiophonic» and I found these two, on tomorrow and Wednesday on Radio 3.

Sadly there is a lot of crap in the television schedules, mostly BBC Two and BBC Four, that should not be in the Proms at all. All of this carp should be on Radio 2. Or in the bin.

wtf is Jade doing in the Proms?!
That is 5 whole television slots that could have been used for things that are broadcast on Radio 3, like a proper jazz effort, unusual things like Arooj Aftab, The Cavemen and some more classical stuff.
On top of that, the terrestrial television broadcast is in AAC 128 kbps which is far too low. That is what was used in portable mp3 players 20 years ago, today AAC 192 kbps is the minimum that is used on phones and portable players. Squeezing an orchestra into AAC 128 kbps is obviously cretinous because it can't sound good but some Proms like Mahler’s Symphony No. 3 have 2 full choirs and 2 full orchestras combined and trying to squeeze that into AAC 128 kbps is utter lunacy.
It is hard to believe the BBC invented NICAM.

There has been some changes at the BBC and the charter renewal is coming up. I must take a closer look at it soon because Channel 4 has been failing to be a proper PSB for many years (PSBs are called PSM now Public Service Media). Some on the BBC board are not very interested in performing a public service which seems to be part of the problem. They are also IMHO wasting money on the new building in East London which is in a bad place, they should have built the music building in White City which is a much better, quieter, less polluted place. They still haven't left Maida Vale after 20 years of saying they are leaving.
The BBC turned down arte years ago, I don't know why. It would have been a good idea. Old vestel televisions will often stream arte over IP when the BBC iPlayer is no longer supported!
The BBC could broadcast more EBU Eurovision stuff than they do, AFAIK they have more rights than they use.

The composition for Philip K Dick turned out to be very good. Sadly no bleating of electric sheep but perhaps a touch of Rick & Morty. When it came to the encore the guitarist forgot to plug in his guitar again.
