Hi,

Would anyone please be able to advise me if any of the following DVB cards will be OK for Ka Band using software such as DVB Dream, Alt DVB, EBS Pro, CrazyScan and TS Reader?

Prof Revolution S2 7301
Prof Revolution S2 8300
SkyStar HD2
SkyStar 2 Express HD
TBS 6922
TBS 6925

Is it simply a matter of changing the LNB L/O in the DBV software or using versions of the DVB software that allow selection of a Ka Band LNB?

Any advice most appreciated.

If you want accurate scales inputting the correct local osc frequencies and ranges ..
Then Crazyscan is needed ..
Obviously you can use other software such as DVBviever ..etc ..and it will scan channels using incorrect settings ..
such as universal lnb etc ..
They simply wont be accurate is all ..

Chris, VS,

Many thanks for your help.

I saw a picture in one of the Ka Band topics of a Globecast feed for a Cameroon vs Ivory Coast soccer match where the picture showed that DVB Dream v2.6 was being used. The picture showed that DVB Dream v2.6 was listing the frequency at the correct value (21684 V). Does this mean that DVB Dream v2.6 scans the Ka Band frequencies OK, or am I not understanding this point correctly? The picture link is pasted below.

It may well be that DVB Dream does indeed allow for correct Ka settings..
But dont use it myself so cant confirm or deny.
Better wait for a definative answer from Llew or someone else that uses it .

@moonbase -

In DVB Dream, choose your satellite (in my example, 4.9E, Diseqc on Port 2).

Click Properties, and enter whatever LO your KA LNB is. For me for this TP, I'm using an XMW Band D LNB = 20250.

Scan in your TP, with its parameters. ( if they aren't already in the database).

Llew,

Thank you for your reply.

It confirms what I thought from looking at the Globecast BISS feed picture that you posted for the soccer match.
It seems that DVB Dream will scan and present the correct frequencies for Ka Band subject to the satellite LOF parameters being correct. It's very useful to have this functionality available as it looks like it allows entry of BISS codes via vplug judging by the cleared BISS picture you uploaded to the forum?

Looking at the pictures of the satellite properties in DVB Dream I see that LOF1 and LOF2 are the same value and there is no value for LOF-Sw.
I assume this is normal for Ka Band in DVB Dream?

LOF frequency selection has no bearing on the BISS code function in DVB Dream.

That's normal for any single LO LNB (C or KA Band). Of course you don't need an LOF2 either, but I think DVB Dream adds it anyhow.

Only dual LO LNBs (e.g Universal types) need an LO switching frequency.

....

Llew,

Apologies for the confusion, I worded my sentence badly.
I intended to say that it was useful to have DVB Dream able to correctly scan in Ka Band frequencies. The BISS code comment was a reference to the fact that DVB Dream works with vplug anyway and that the fact that DVB Dream can also scan Ka frequencies correctly was an added bonus even though the two functions are not related.
