My receiver is a Kaon KSC 570 and does boot at all(no power).According to the manual there is an internal fuse but I cant see one inside.Does anyone know where i can find it

Quite often, the fuse doesn't look like a fuse, instead it's soldered to the board and looks like a component, and you have to solder in a repacement. In which case, to i.d. it, you need to follow the circuit board tracks from mains input .....

Often, the fuse itself looks like a small black or blue cube, whereas everything else around it is clearly either a capacitor or resistor or transformer, or some type of semiconductor. That might help, but do then check that it really is the fuse.

It's done like that because the fuse isn't expected to blow unless there's a serious power supply fault ..........

It goes without saying, observe safety precautions, do any work with receiver disconnected from mains, etc .........

I think the only way to fix it is to buy a new
power supply board.I was quoted 39 pounds from Shebasat.
I might as well buy a new receiver at 70 pounds

I have taken a photo of the board if someone can show me where the fuse is
for future reference

It's the Wickman fuse, the black cylinder, at the bottom right of the large white connector (top left of the PSU in your picture).

Can't read the rating though.

T2A on their site, but it's a quick- blow. Normally you use anti-surge (slow-blow) fuses for mains input circuits due to surges on switch-on, transients etc.

Be aware that a fuse blows for a reason - faulty component in your STB or, if you're lucky, a large power surge at the mains or perhaps a voltage spike within the PSU has blown the fuse. Hopefully one of the latter.

Try http://www.grandata.co.uk/ (fuse section) for a Wickman A/S fuse.

Yeah, sorry! I forgot to say that type of fuse can also be a cylinder, and might be mistaken for an electrolytic capacitor!

Generally, these solder-onto-board type fuses are available from the usual components suppliers ...... (cpc, grandata, possibly RS, etc).
 
Do you know what SR -5 might indicate spiney? Slow blow rating?

I've ordered Fuse 90 from Grandata
Wickman slow blow 2A fuse
I think this is the correct one
Hopefully it will arrive in the next few days
Also managed to remove the old fuse this morning
First time i've used a soldering iron for about 20 yrs!!

Well, in absence of other info, I'd have thought a standard sat receiver would use maybe up to 30W (at full 500mA lnb current!), and a PVR type maybe something like 80-100 Watts.

So, for normal receiver, yes, maybe a 3A fuse, allowing for switch-on surge.
