I have the opportunity to acquire a used Kathrein cas018 180cm prime focus dish.
But since I have had abysmal results with a Triax 140 PF, I hesitate to take a decision before asking those of you guys, who know this beast, your opinion about its performance. Does it come near the performance of a Channel Master 180 offset? It is complete with a non-penetrating roof mount.

Should be very good if the reflector is not warped or damaged.
It is in good shape.
My worry is that although these old dishes probably perform well for CBand. How would they work with KUBand. I found nowhere any specification for this rig.

how much are you offered the dish?

It may not be worth it compared to a new andrew 180cm.

Hi!
i have the 1,80 m Kathrein Dish!
but no channel Master 1,80m!
but i would say there is no much difrent, you should take that what you get!
payed around 250€ for the dish!
very heavey around 100 kg,i have also dual axis extension for this modell!
and orginal polarmount

was a dish of a german cable operater, the feed streps has beeen mofifeized form orginal, now i have scrws on the backside, where i can change, the lenth of the streps, like on the old mwo antennas,so signal optimeizing is now much better then with the orginal lnb holders!
if the price not to high take this little baby, was orginal manufactures by prescison uk,long time ago!

Thanks Charly, thanks Turok.
It is offered to me for 150 euros.
My intention is to rig it for ku band, with, in mind, a Badr26°+Eurobird25.5° combination or Nilesat+Atlanticbird4 combination, to insure the reception of either, in severe weather conditions.
It is not so much the price, as this is quite reasonable. But the fact of having to carry it up 13 floors and, perhaps, be disappointed with the result, is making me hesitate.
Turok, have you got specifications of this dish?

Hi!
no dont have the datasheet also looking for, maye i can call kathrein in rosenheim maybe the have something i hope
triax 1,40m is also still missing!

dont use 2 lnbs on this antena, you will lost to much signal for eurobird 2 25,5 east, some transponders loosing power i recogneized

the orbit package for example with the gregory 1,25m here music now is bettter on day time, and orbit news in the night, and then viavera,of the signal!
half year ago was much more stable,on the transponders 11623 v,and the fta channels with low simbolrate i have only signal in the night!
now badr 6 is also working goog, since i do fine tuning with the dual axes extrension i got badr 6 also 11900 v ans 1226 h,when dont make finetuning in elevation you will never have any signal

I have no intention of using 2 lnbs, but only one, as the two satellites are so close to each other. Badr's transponders are on the high band and Eurobird's on the low band.

good luck!
the angel of arperture,is much smaler on big dishes!
would mean, that you cant optimeized waker badr 6 transponders and eurobird 2 together, try it is is a lot of finetuning,or maybe a palarizier needed,to finetune both satelite without changing position!
