Landy no more....

Even if we did get out of europe, the traditional landy design has reached an impasse, there's only so many ways you can upgrade a box on wheels before you have to replace the box itself...
 
If it ain't broke....but the EU certainly is.
 
There was a small piece about the end of the Defender on last Sunday's Country File. But the "news" has been well known for a while.
 
I missed that news when it originally came out. I used to drive a Defender (TDi and a TD4 130) for a living a few years ago, and always thought it a very capable if crude machine. They certainly grow on you, and I liked their simplicity and lack of frills.
 
My brother likes his Land Rovers. He has a Discovery mouldering away on his drive, which is a shame as apparently it's factory experimental model. He is currently driving a Defender in which he has (several times) changed the engine and gearbox. I think it's currently using Discovery items ATM.
