Ok, a few years back, when laser pens were the "toy" to have, I came up with the idea that if you ramped up the voltage in oneit would increase it's power to become a cutting tool, and if it went even higer it would become a Sci-fi style laser weapon...;) 
Now, thinking about it, I guess what what would actually happen is the pen's laser module would just burn out or even worse, explode (WCS), rather than vapourise people you don't like...
Of course, I only ask as I just bought a Phaser (a toy one, not a genuine prop, cast resin kit, or even a real one from the 24th century ), and I'd love to put a laser module in it....
