Our new Toshiba DVD recorder is so designed that the RF input and output sockets are close to the right of the horizontal Scart sockets: 2 * RF leads and 2 * decent quality Scart cables just will not fit. Crazy.. I can just squeeze in 2 Tesco Value cables, but only because the cable is so thin and flexible.

All the Scart cables I can find have the cable exiting right from a horizontal socket. Is it possible to get left handed ones?

Thanks in advance.

Not sure, but you can get them with straight entry, ribbon and otherwise.

That's what I'm going to have to get for my Sony Bravia - the (vertically positioned) Scart sockets are inset in a panel that allows plugs with thicker cables to foul the back of the receiver's moulding, and you can't plug them in securely enough. Bad form, Sony!

On most scart cables, you should be able to open up the plastic plug cover - it prises open at one side - then turn the plug over inside it, and snap closed again. But, be very careful not to break any of the wires going onto the pins, or you'll need a soldering iron!

No good for me. Cables'll be shooting north, one touch and they'll be out in a jiff.

Well, many SCART cables maybe have moulded-on plugs anyway. But the cheaper ones - from "pound shops" - often come apart, which can be useful to remember!

.

Yes there is one, Ive seen it at a customers house (but only after I had been fiddling for ten minutes to get it in the receiver the 'right' way round.

Will try to get a number off the cable in a couple of days.
