Got the motivation to have a tidy up in my den today >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>.

So far, I've discovered four redundant TV related Boxes,, counted thirteen unused SCART Leads, a couple of dozen proprietary Belling-Lee UHF Coax extenders/adapters plus sundry UHF connectors, a similar number of Telephone/Modem related cables plus a large bag full of extension sockets, nine ADSL filters, eight RCA Audio cables, fifteen different variants of PC related cabling, thirty or so lengths of double-screened cable (all too short for any realistic purpose) ................... only been at it for an hour!

I am inclined to BIN THE LOT.

What have you (inadvertently?) been hoarding?

I have various LNB's which have patently failed but for some unknown reason I'm reluctant to throw out. Also loads of those leads you get with receivers but never use. Power supplies that went with equipment now occupying a land fill in Surrey somewhere and lots of 13A plugs which we thought were a good idea to bring "just in case".....

However, just recently I discovered my light hiding under a bushel.....

Stick the good stuff on ebay as a joblot, better to turn it into money, even if it's just a fiver or a tenner or something, than to throw it all out and get nothing back (aside from free space!!)... :)

Got lots of redundant kit here, from a reel to reel tape recorder to transformers, old LNBs, low voltage fans and shields, trouble is that the last two items I put on ebay actually ended up costing me more money to sell than I received, so becoming a little reluctant to sell potentially low value kit, it just tends to be time consuming, whereas a trip down to the tip is quick and painless.

Definitely sell the R2R on ebay, even if it's not a particularly popular make or model, there are still people out there who love collecting such things, and of course, list when they're doing the zero insertion fee weekends, making it a bit cheaper to sell... :)

Telephone related stuff can be handy too, ADSL filters for example can be used by certain types (*cough*) who collect old telephones, as the filters can be used on analogue phone systems as miniature PBX-Master sockets, providing the ringer circuit for converted GPO phones and later 3-wire BT phones, also providing an RJ11 socket (the modem side) for phones that originate from across the pond, and of course extension sockets and modem cables are handy too for wiring up said phone systems... O-Ha

Everything has a use, even if it's apparently useless...

Here here! Keep them upstairs then, in case of a fire, you can tie them together and climb out. :)

Good idea!

I only have two in use throughout the entire Estate now - all is done via HDMI.
