Life with a DM500HD

Have you tested any cards in your internal reader ?
For the first time I tested 0963 card at 6mhz and after 12 hours it left a little burn mark on the card.
Never had that with the 800, 7020, VU + Duo or smargo.
The card is fine except for the mark.
 
I have to say that I read this post laughing to myself regarding zardari7's "righteous" first post advice about the importance of buying original equipment, followed by multiple posts about how rubbish it is. I think most of us here are interested in daily useage of the box, not your (fanboy(?)) views on original v clone.

I've no idea if you sort your box out yet but maybe this could help since the exact thing happened to me.

By box was working fine since day one but by mistake and due to some hard drive issues, I decided to retrograde to the first official image.

From the moment I did that, my box behaved in the exact same manner you describe. I tried to reflash it via web browser but could find the box ip.

I then went to the DM website and downloaded the LATEST official image and using a usb > mini usb cable I've managed to install it with Dreamup without the network connection.

It flashed perfectly all the way. After reboot it loaded normally and that was that. Everything back to normal ever since.

Also and since you mentioned it, when flashig the box with the web browser and you see the progress bar finished at 100%, don't do anything with it. Just go to your box and disconnect the power switch at the back. Then close your web brower and then switch the power back on the box.

Bottom line and I know this for a fact, once you flashed your box with latter images NEVER retograde to old official images.

@Sonic1: I have not used the internal reader, but from threads on other dreamboxes this seems to happen when you have your CCcam options incorrect - I can't remember exactly which must be on and which must be off but it is the the white card thread.

My DM500HD with Gemini 5.0 e2, performing nice.
Compared to my CuberevoMini HD, the picture quality is far better.
The box is much cool than my old DM600.

:-thumb1I have now had this box for several months and am now absolutely convinced it is the best dreambox DMM have made to date. It never hangs or crashes. The EPG works all the time. The remote is fast and works all the time. And the picture quality is great. I highly recommend this DM500HD running Dream Elite image.
 
USB mod on order for mine - for the EPG & swapfile - will give the hdd a rest!
The only thing I miss (from the 8k) is 2 tuners, but apart from that it works just fine.
Some of the 1.6 images have some 'weird' faults - probably haven't been tested - e.g. Gemini2 you can't edit one of the network settings (I seem to remember) (not something you would find unless you test EVERY option).
 
which dreamelite image are you using shumifan ? is it the 1.3.3. OE 1.6 usb tuner multiboot if not can you point me in the right direction as to exactly which image you have . thanks
 
@davemadden: I am using the first image released by DreamElite (1.0). It seems the oe1.6 has some driver problems still, so I will hang back until those are sorted. I might try the 1.3.3 on the DM800 that is so unstable that it could not possible get worse. At the momnet I am too busy to do much work on the dreamboxes, but I intend to sort out a browser at some stage as a means to monitor MJPEG security cameras.
 
Always use the latest version of a CAM if you can (if it works for your card). CCcam latest version is in the DreamElite addon downloads, so life is very easy...too easy actually.
 
ive put dreamelite1.3.3 on and when i press info i only get now and next programmes can you tell me how to get better epg. thanks
 
Don't ask the same question on multiple threads. Look at the other thread you opened.
 
I've had mine a week now and love it much better than the crap
800hd clone i had. Picture quality is verygood, setting up though
a challenge was pretty easy once i got into it but all in all 330
well spent. Still to set up pc stream and youtube ect but sly
card works a treat, something like sly+ recording would be nice
but not essential and the build quality is 2nd to none.
 
After a few days with frustration, could not get my brand new 500HD to find satelittes, I am now a lucky oner of a working DM 500HD. Firstly, I came home and downloaded the new PP 2.0 software. Used my pre-stores channel list and uploaded my 500HD with channels. Then I realised that it would not tune into satelitte. Got a new one from my local store and did the same thing and everything is fine. Thanks everyone out there making dreambox possible.

I am not profisinal but I wanted to coperate with my exprince in DB500 HD , who I had nearly 4 months.ago.I purchased it from the the local distributer in Egypt ,
I checked the MAC no. and it was original from from Dream Multi Media TV, I purchased it open eyed knowing its capabilities reading about it from the net.
It is really great in performance (compared to my old DB 7020).I had a problem to connect HD to it it did not and solved by purchasing esata HD
(I omega) 2Tera and working with now problem at all.I succeed to my first time to load image to it.I had now enigma 2 PCD version experimental. Yesterday I succeed on using it reading my gmail.But still I had problem with Skin that show the type of sat(Nile Sat or HB,Astra) ,the net connection.

DB500HD + BH 133C Downloaded via network + CCCam 2.1.3 (via box) + Vhannibal settins motec list (via box) + the server of my friend = full satisfaction a month so far
Instead of HDD I mounted the box on a 2T NAS (playing moves from and recording moves to that storage)
Do what ever you want to do the box is dead cool and working
Yesterday I got another DB500HD, put on BH 133C but, unfortunately, no more CAM-s and Vhannibal lists via box - it is pitty - the link doesn't work any more
So, I don't know how to install neither the cccam 2.1.3 nor Vhannibal settings. I'll be happy if somebody can help - thanks
Ceta, Samsung 9500AViaCI, Humax 5400, Visjonnet 7000S and finaly DB500HD
DB500hd is the best as was its predecessor DM 500s
