Just in the past few days the live pause has stopped working, after the button is pressed the pause thingies will appear on the screen but nothing happens for about 15 seconds then it will pause but won't restart, also the instant rewind has stopped working too.

That did it. Suppose I should have thought of that before I posted a post. Anyhow, at least if it happens to somebody else they will know what to do now.

Cheers

Thats good, your sorted. Anything that usually happens to mine I do a reboot and its ok then. I have an old pace 40gb one. Will get the new HD one next year when they come out & the tv too. See Dixons over here have the plus box 160gb for 79euro now.

This live pause (or lack of it) problem has plagued my parents' Sky+ box for the last two or so months. Each time it happens it needs to be unplugged/plugged (like has been said). It's just one of the many problems they're now having with their Sky+. It was pretty reliable up until now (FWIW it's a 2nd gen Pace).

Faulty live pause is a regular fault, a reboot fixes it for a temp period, the best way to get rid for a long time is to reset the entire box, however this results in losing anything that you have stored on you HD, so not an easy choice to make.

I regularly transfer my HD stuff onto my DVDR, don't worry if you transfer, it does not come across with the NDS encrypt

Thanks

Phil

Phil

Are you absolutely 100% guaranteeing that cafc?, as that seems contrary to everything I have read before about plus units, I do not have one so am unable to challenge or corroborate

To reset the entire box? Do I need to be able to get the default transponder?

Not as far as I know, I can't guarantee it, but as far as I know it simply wipes the drive and returns to factory settings. You go into the installer menu and hit full system reset, you will probably need to re-enter your default transponder. :)

Well I did a reset and it made the problem go away for a good while but it has returned jut now. Here in Cairo the power supply is rubbish at best, we lose it almost every day which will be rebooting the box, we haven't lost power for a week now and the problem has returned. Just wondering though, when we do have power we get browns and spikes all the time, I have everything on stabilisers but they won't stop everything. Could this have something to do with it and would a U.P.S help?

Oh yes absolutely, I can only recommend that anyone with power outages happening on a regular basis should invest in a small 700Vac UPS. Not only will it compensate for over and undervoltages remove spikes etc it will maintain power for about 20 minutes if the receiver is working and I would imagine quite a few hours if stb only on standby.
