hi guys connected a cable from my dish to humax free sat box, and its telling me lnb short on tv screen checked all connections and found no wires touching each other done this 3 times to be sure but still getting lnb short message on screen dumfounded, were do i go from here thanks ray

Have you done a Factory Reset on the box since verifying the connections are not apparently at fault?

Those boxes are a bit fickle if there is any sort of alteration to the "Antenna" arrangement ......

dident know that just done a factory reset, also tried searching for signal it couldent find one,

tried connecting sky box to check signal same notice came up lnb short on screen

When was the dish last used?

Possible faults:

lnb has failed

water in the cable caused by failed seal at the dish end

someone has shoved a drawing pin through the cable (wouldnt be the first time)

the cable has some other physical damage.

dish was used a week ago with my sky box , no water in lnb have checked only a spider living in there lol, cable is in secure place nobody can get to it i will check cable with light bulb and battery tomoz and see if it carries a current ok will let you know of the out come

I suspect you might need to remove and refit the F connectors before you're done.

OK, so if you still have your Sky box, plug it back in and see if it works, if it does and then on reconnection to the Humax it still shows a short, then it's broken. If it just shows no signal, see if you can do a software update.

Do you have enough spare on the cable to be able to cut a few inches off the co-ax before refitting the "F" plug? (LNB end only)
.
As it’s a process of elimination, do you perhaps have a friend with a caravan and a sat dish?

He would most certainly have a length of co-ax which you might be able to borrow and temporarily connect it in place of your suspect cable.

That would eliminate one suspect item. In addition, could you purchase an LNB on a sale or return basis?

Deep down, I suspect that your dish has somehow moved but you probably need to eliminate all other possibilities first.

Good luck and keep us posted.
