Hi All,
I just bought two new Technomate TM-4 and one of them had some damage to the LNB cap (see pics attached). The LNB looks brand new, so I guess it's a manufacturing defect, or else someone at the shop pried the cap open to look under it or something.

In any case, will this affect the LNB in any way? (ie: will water get in and damage it?) If it's only cosmetic, I can live with it.

I bought it from a seller in the UK, and I'm in Switzerland, so sending it back may not be worth it.

Thanks for any comments/feedback.

The damage looks to be a crease rather than a break or cut ..so unlikely that water can get in as there is a rubber seal abut halfway up under the white cap edge ..
If in doubt smear a bit of rubber solution glue under the creased lip ..

You could also try binding over the damage with self-amalgamating tape. Just don't go onto the front face with it, it'll stop the radio waves.

Run a gas flame over it for a few seconds that will bond it back together.

So it's only cosmetic? Ok, maybe I'll live with it. However, makes me wonder about Technomate's Quality Control if they let something like that leave their factory :/
In general, I kind of like the LNB. It doesn't perform any better than any of my other LNB's, but the form-factor of the LNB is nice, it's very compact for a quad LNB.

Looks like screw driver marks to me, someone tried or did pry the cap off, to do what is anybody's guess.

Send a photo to their QC department, or their customer support, you may get a new one.

I just did that. Even if it's only cosmetic, if I paid for a new one, I should get a new one, not something that's been tooled with and cracked. We'll see what they say. I do like the LNB tho, and may order two more for my other dish. I'll just ask them to look in the box before sending it.

Nothing here stops you from naming the supplier that you bought it off.

I didn't know if it was appropriate to "name and shame" here, but ... it was xxxxx
I wrote them last night and sent pics, but no reply yet. To say something good about them, their shipping to Switzerland was very fast, and reasonably priced.

Company name removed. Don't think it is appropriate on the open forum.
