I am thinking about changing my IBU single LNB and need some advice. It still works but seems to have lost its edge over the years. I tend to loose some channels on my Gibertini at noon every day. I have seen in previous threads that the Galaxy Innovations GI-212e has been praised. A number was sold here in the forum. It would be interesting to hear your opinion, if it outperforms IBU single and Maximum X0?

I cannot find a supplier who will ship the twin to us in Sweden (if you can recommend a supplier that can it would be appreciated ;) ), but the quad can be purchased at
Galaxy Innovations Quad LNB 0.1dB

Possibly I have found an online shop with a site entirely in Portugese that does... Since I don't know the language and Google translate will not work on the ordering page it is a bit difficult...

LNB UNIVERSAL TWIN 0.1 DB GALAXY :: LNB :: Servelec

Any opinion on how the quad performs compared to the twin would also be appreciated!

Fredrik! I think it is does not really matter what kind of LNB is used. All nowadays LNBs are more or less same. If you wish I can order THIS LNB for you. I phoned the shop, they said they do not send packages abroad. But I can order it to my address (costs 3 EUR) and then send it to you via usual post (another 5-7 EUR).

Thank you for your reply. Do you have any experience from how the LIBOX LNBs compare to Inverto Black Ultra and Galaxy Innovations? I got a bunch of LNBs when I bought my pre-owned Gibertini dish and I see quite a difference for quality and sensitivity between the various LNBs.

I see quite a difference for quality and sensitivity between the various LNBs.
And how big is this difference? TBH, I do not know how to compare performance of 2 satellite systems (dish, LNB, connectors, wires) to be able to tell at the end of tests something like "System A performs 5% better that system B"

I have not done so many comparing measurments and I only have a simple satlink satfinder to measure signal. However, I moved the Inverto LNB that I previously had on my Triax dish to the Gibertini and replaced it with a generic one. I lost more than a dB on the Triax because of the change.

And one possible reason your loosing signals at noon is that the LNB may be overheating due to the Sun getting behind it and reflecting the IR radiation back onto the LNB, a Sun shield made from an white plastic milk bottle may help, anything made from plastic (not a clear one) and will fit over the LNB's front and top may work to keep it cool.

One test for this would be to hose it down for about 5 min with a garden hose then take a look to see if your signal is back.
