LNB holder for gibby 125?

Pleased to say have now completed testing the new lnb holder against the modified 2 piece alloy today using various lnbs and stb receivers, found the modified 2 piece alloy had a slight edge over the new one.
So the 2 piece is back in situ now, will fine tweak it tomorrow weather permitting.

A big thanks for all the feedback:)

Do you have any ideas why the two-piece holder might be the better one?

Sorry to hear you new LNB holder did not meet your expectations. Most likely it does not hold LNB in focus and not pointing LNB to the right spot. I am still not sure your old holder does these tasks perfectly and does not matter how you tweak LNB inside it. To place LNB in focus of antenna you should know exact position if this focus. And secondly, you should also know and adjust direction of LNB, so it is pointing to the right spot. Without knowing those two parameters it is almost impossible to get maximum possible signal from antenna.

We are talking extreme fringe reception on astra 2e @28.2e satellite.

My location is very near/close too the so called first null line in scandinavia, have persevered to get lock and load on this bird and have succeeded with signal max 65 % qual on bbc3 and 62% qual on bbc2 hd so well happy.

Problem is these signals fade gradually towards the evening then cut out ~1900cet to reapear next day with repeat procedure.

Maybe when the BST ends might get extra evening viewing.

So either this bird has a wobble or is programmed to reduce signal strength at prime viewing times will see when BST ends.

All is not lost however when signal drops out I stream from pc to tv.

For info only.
Fine tweaked today BBC2 - 72%Q, BBC3 - 74%Q on technomate 5402 HD M2. ~1030 CET. Light cloud.

These quality figures will begin to fade this afternoon and cease in the evening, only to reappear tomorrow.

Sounds a bit like my reception of 2E Europe beam at my apartment. No chance in the evening but some transponders just about receivable in the morning (inc EPG data on 11.778V luckily). As for the UK spot, I can only dream... So as your signal fades in the evening think about me and feel better. ;)

It is also sounds like reception of Nordic beam from 4,8*E at my place. In the evenings signal level drops considerably up to no reception at all. This is about 90cm dishes. There are couple of ways to improve situation- install bigger dish or adjust existing dish/LNB more precisely.

How far away are you from a lock in the evenings, @skomedal ?

Yeah, 4.8E is weaker in the evenings here and I did lose it on a Penta 85 then if it was raining hard-ish. No such issues with the 1.5m :D

ATM 1725 cet
bbc1 west dropped to 57%
bbc1 north east and cumbria no lock ( midday was 69% )
bbc2 hd no lock now.

The vertical tps last to fade/cut out.

Think this techno model requires about 53%Q to lock ( might be wrong )
