Has anyone had a play with the latest Inverto Black Ultra PLL lnb?

If so, how does it compare with the Blue PLL or the old Black Ultra?

I have a Blue PLL, I live pretty close to a macro cell site with 4G/5G.

Was wondering if the upgrade to the BU would be worth it?
 
As far as I know the 5G/4G problem only affects the "C" band satellite's,(3.5 to 4.5 GHz) not the "Ku" band as they are at a much higher frequency.(11 to 12.7 GHz)
 
Is there different variants of the non PLL black ultra or is it simply age related?

Some seem to come in red and black boxes ( the older ones). Others have HGLN written on the side of them and come in a black box with silver writing.
 
As far as I know it was just the packaging. I have one old single IBU and a newer (last couple of years) one. Thera little difference between the two.

TBH if that Gibertini is not far from you I'd get that instead B)

So as long as it has the long neck it’s the original ultra?

If it was a 1m I would have already messaged them with an offer but a 1.25m is a bit too big for where it can go.

In this neck of the woods 'LTE' filtering is being deployed. Random searches....



I'll be checking early this week if the lake dissipates.
 
Ref the 5G issues with the non-PLL Black Ultras: could someone please remind me as to what the obvious signs of 5G interference on the older ones are (the Twin on my Gibby is probably 5-7 yrs old, and only one of the two is actually used), and to what extent is it worth considering a change (not that I have actually noticed any problems with the LNB itself? Also, if Iit did get changed, would it "help" to get a Single (OTOH, from what I remember, the older Twins sometimes out-performed the Singles!).

Asking this because CH is coming over in a week or two to reset the DM under the Gibby amongst other things (because my back problems now make it too difficult for me to do that:rolleyes:) and it wouldn't be much extra work for him to change the LNB at the same time if that might make an overall improvement in performance.
 
Well unless the 5G signals are swamping the LNB then I don't see why you would need a 5G filter, low band 5G is at 600 to 850 MHz, mid band (the one that affects the "C" bands) is at 2.5 to 3.7 GHz, and high band 5G is at 29 to 39 GHz.

So the only 5G signals I can see affecting a "Ku" band LNB would be the low band 5G, it's frequency is very close to the IF frequency* output of the LNB, this could cause problems if the 5G tower is very close and was out in front or off to the side of the dish.

It could also cause problems with signal bleed in, this is where the interfering signal is directly bleeding into a coax with poor shielding, or not properly grounding the coax and/or antenna system.

So if you dont have a 5G tower close by you wouldn't need an LNB with a filter.

*IF or intermediate frequency is the output of the internal mixing of the LO (Local Oscillator) and the transponder frequency, this is what goes down the coax to the satellite receiver.

I asked the 5G question because I really couldn't remember the issues, but, as I said, thought there might be an opportunity to take simple/relatively cheap "precautionary measures" in the very near future if there was likely to be any related problems in the longer term.

Therefore thx for the info and it would thus seem that, as I don't have a C-Band setup and nor (AFAIK) is there a 5G tower anywhere near this house, then it looks like I probably don't have much reason to worry about 5G effects on the current system!:Y

Here stateside it's a BIG mess as all the small market CATV and small local TV stations that dont have a network fiber connection use the "C" band network and prime programming satellites to get their channels.

5G mid-band take over has caused some big problems with the lower "C" band transponders, this is why they are moving them to above 4 GHz on the newer satellites.

Now this has caused a major cost to the smaller CATV company's, if you have a system with 32 channels and some are using transponders below 4 GHz, you ether have to send the channel receiver back to have it re-tuned or buy new ones, and these are not consumer grade receivers but cost thousands.

The federal government here is offsetting this cost..(I didn't vote for it)

No low band 5G in this town at all yet, it’s all 3500Mhz.
 
My old Black Ultras work better than my blue PLL Inverto, Haven't seen many positive comments about the PLL Ultra.
Hi, if you refer (blue Inverto) to Premium Pll Ultra (IDLP-SNL410-PREMU-OPN) I got it. I have both, Black Ultra and Premium Ultra. I bought the Black ultra about 6 years ago (for my Gibertini 100), then last year I bought the Premium one (for the Laminas 120). In my opinion, the Black Ultra has a high gain, good LNB, but a LO accuracy with a sufficient +- 2Mhz, while the Premium has a lower gain (still good) but a LO accuracy with a excellent +- 0.5Mhz. I work in a teleport and all the LNBs are Swedish 0.7dB and a LO stability +- 10khz. So I think that is better a more stable LNB than a high gain, as the best signal you can get is from a bigger dish, not only from a better LNB. Black Ultra is very good, but in some cases (SCPC and weak signals) it suffers from stability and LO problems, while the Premium is good for a bigger dish and more stable (you can lock signals better). For sure I don't know the new Black ULtra with the different case (I have the older long case). Just my opinion.

I am sure I read the famous feed hunter William-1 had overload issues with his Inverto BU on 28.2e and 19.2e on his Gibertini 1m, so he switched to an inverto blue plll.

Having a sort through my box of sat stuff last night I found an old Darkgold 0.1db lnb from my old 1M motorised system. Must be circa 2008. It looks like a Technomate clone to me.

Does anyone remember much about these?
 
Bit of a throw back this @william-1 but I have found an old Darkgold 0.1db LNB.

I have seen you used to use one back in the day? Did you rate it?

Lasted 8 years very good.
 
The Black Ultra has a better performace for feed signals.
