Hi friends ..
Nothing to do with Sat this one ..
I have a Sony stack/seperates system on my bench atm ..
It uses a seperate CD player CDP-M48.
Problem is that this unit needs a new optical pickup (laser) which I can still get in clone form ..but the unit has been 'tweaked' buy woever owned it before it's current owner..
He bought the whole stack on ebay some while back ..but has never had the cd player running ...which is why he brought it to me ..and why it is on my bench ..
Ive replaced the laser but am now seeing problems with severe track skipping ..
Basically I need to see an untouched unit to get a rough idea where the various potentiometers were set before the twiddler got to work on it ..
I tried to find a non worker on ebay myself with the same model number ..to buy as a reference or even for parts but can't find one ..
Has anyone got one of these and can lift the lid and take photos to help me ??
As I said ..
longshot ..but worth an ask..

But most (not all) of Sony's internal CD players use the same internal CD hardware as the ones for a PC, on some models they are identical, all you need to do is find one for a PC from Sony and do a comparison.

If your lucky and the hardware is the same you may even be able to swap them out. (the internal workings that is)

And I can't read German but it looks like this one is the laser unit as a replacement part.

Already seen that one Terry ..
Is based in Italy ..and a worker ..
Too expensive to buy and ship it here ..
but thanks for looking

You have the unit open, does it look like the CD carriage unit as a whole (with laser unit) will unbolt from the main chassis?

If so then it may be possible to drop in one from a PC, the front bezels can be changed out.

No Terry ..
Not in this case ..
The control pcb /sevo/micro etc connects with cables to the laser deck/motors ...and It's the presets on this main board I suspect have been twiddled ..
So to get a clear photo of an untouched board I could get very close by obseving and copying the positions.

Ok ..
Have got this working by fitting a KSS212B laser (used) ..
reading discs ok now ..as I can now set it up ok ..
So I can only assume that all the KSS210A lasers I have in stock are either faulty or shitty clones..
doh!!

VS is that site any good or shall I delete it!

Glad you have it sorted
TBH after a brief look ...I downloaded the manual and used that ..
So not really useful in this case ..
thanks anyway.
