The batteries are definitely on the very small size (you don't get them much smaller - even the 1.5Ah ones on my Bosch 18V Pro-spec drill don't last that long). Is the chuck self locking or do you have to grip the body hard with one hand whilst you struggle to tighten the chuck with the other (unlike my Bosch, which is virtually self-locking - just hold the body lightly and gently tighten the chuck with the other )? My neighbour's Makita has that problem and I definitely prefer my Bosch to his. Battery charge time is a little on the long side - my Bosch charger definitely charges the 1.5Ah batteries in less than an hour. IMHO, I generally prefer Bosch tools because they LAST - got an old 500W mains one that been much abused but has lasted at least 20yrs+ (probably 25) so far, and a bigger 750W that is not quite so old or so heavily worked and that's fine too. My Bosch Reciprocating ("sabre") saw has lasted 20yrs or so and that has also been very heavily abused! None of these have ever had to be repaired. Edited: apart from the 18Vdrill, all the other Bosch tools are "consumer" grade, not Pro. Also, always take the quoted drilling depths with a big pinch of salt - it depends a lot on the quality of the bits you use and how long the battery lasts. Anyway, it's your choice if you buy one but I don't think I would.
