It really would help us to help you if you give us a few more specific things about the receivers you can get hold of (?), and anything else relevant like your rough location, the type of dish you either have, or can accommodate, which satellites you can 'see' (in the southern sky)... or at least which way your desired mounting position/wall is facing, and how much you want to spend. The more info you can give us, the quicker we can narrow it down for you and get you going. Any other desires or restrictions on your setup? How technically proficient are you? Do you want to 'get your hands dirty' and be involved in loads of techie programming, or do you want an easier and more reliable viewing life? To answer your first questions, 'Phoenix Mode' is simply a 'state' that you can put your card programmer in, such that it can program the latest generation of high spec cards. Don't buy a programmer that is capable of doing this. The Dragon loader card is very similar to a Fun7 card. You program these cards, then place them in the Dragon CAM (which is a piece of hardware much like a PCMCIA card). The whole lot the plugs into a 'CI' (Common Interface) slot in your chosen receiver. Don't buy a receiver without at least one CI slot. You can program some non-CI receivers directly, but a CI slot is best to begin with and gives you much more flexibility. That's a very simplistic view, but it'll give you an idea. Once you have programmed your CAM in this way, you can often then remove the card. STICK
