Mad science time again ..

If it performs as good as it looks then it will be top notch , once sweet spotted:-righton

At first testing ...odd things are happening ..
Some signals have increased ..certain sr's certain fecs ...whilst others have been almost killed off..???
Not sure if its down to the feed ...or the plastic fitted inside the inner ring ..
But definately imparting some skew into a linear signal ..
bizarre to say the least ..
I noticed it first on Silverbird 37West ...
which boomed in at an exceptional 9db on the F15
..but only if I rotated the whole assembly including the lnb by almost 10 degrees from the correct axis ..
curiouser and curiouser ...I'm gonna have to start understanding the thing I've created..

Ok ..now its just getting confusing ...
Some tansponders simply refuse to lock ...but here's odd ..and remember the assy is no longer at the focus ...
Not possible to get it there as the section of scalar ribs pushed through the plate prevent it ..
But ..
I got a lock on this ...at 10 East ..
all encrypted of course ...but with the T plate fitted ...I'm locking a second transponder on the startimes mux ..
Which I've _never_ been able to do ..

Certainly fascinating stuff buddy ..
Yes there is a hole in the cloud atm ..but then ...it was a clear night when I briefly locked the first startimes transponder some months ago ..
Intermittent at best ...but now its locked solid ...and the tricky one is the newly added transponder ...but is remaining locked and hasn't dropped in over 15 mins ..
There is certainly a place for this new feed in my armoury ...even if it proves to be selective
..and that appears to be the case at the moment.

Conglatulations Glasshopper......

Finally lost the startimes lock at 7:30 PM ..
Still very much time of day dependent ...but promising results :)

So far its proving to be as good if not better in some cases than a commercial scalar assy...certainly on the circular polarised channels from 30East to 5 West ..
Just locked 3744 L
tp C2 DBS TV (Cameroon) DVB-S 1428-3/4
on AB3 5 West ..
usually tricky for me ..but a clear night plus this new feed locked it no problems

Hard to say yet ..but considering its just fitted ad-hoc ...the overall results are good..
It looks like the issues I'm going to have are Linear related..but hopefully those can be overcome.

So far so good re- circular polarised reception ..
locked every channel currently in my list that locked previously on the standard plate ..plus a couple of surprises ..
One I've already reported re Startimes 10 E ..
Also managed to lock DBS Camaroon 5 W ..

and on 27 West
4142 R
tp 37 NTA International DVB-S 2893-3/4
always been bordeline ...now locked in the F15

Well imo the plate must be an improvement ..if only on 10 East ..
Despite the foul weather contitions we've witnessed over the last 8 hours ..
still windy ..raining ..and heavy cloud here ..
I couldn't resist swinging Christina back over to Startimes ..
Kung Fu locked first time at 9.6 db...
Thats roughly .5 db higher than in clear conditions last night ...
If it can do that ..and will probably sustain the lock till around 7pm ...then it proves something ..
..though too many variabes to say ..exactly what yet..
;)
the effort was worth it

Morning Prof.

Been following this with great interest - well done on yet another solid achievement.

But mainly, I'm so glad the dish is intact!

Thanks Gordon ..so am I ...though I can't confirm there are no issues with Tom and Dick yet ..
Certainly Christina was rebuilt so solidly ..she appears to withstand whatever is thrown at her even face on to the wind..
;)

The wind during the night has so severe it woke me up from deep sleep around 3.30am ...and I was up at the bathroom window lasooing Tom and tieing him down to stop the vibration.

...just an additional bit of info ..
CRI (Test) on the same Startimes transponder ..
Blank screen ..carries no pix ..but appears to be a chinese radio channel fta (currently broadcasting news in English) but usually Chinese
