Something new again - a user-programmable multi-encryption CI CAM.

See here:

This info from Dutch sat4all board; admin is stating that he has the thing working in his Topfield receiver (he is beta-tester for Topfield). He reports Irdeto/Betacrypt & Mediaguard("seca") are working using the Gammacrypt beta firmware. He also says that Polish contacts are claiming to have a Sky Videoguard emulation under development for that CAM (but that remains to be seen...)

It will cost about €200 plus about €30 for a special programming device that allows the CAM to be programmed via the serial port of a PC (CAM fitted in the receiver; programmer inserted into the CAM and connected via RS232 to PC).

And note: this is NOT the universal CAM that recently appeared but which can not be programmed by the user and for which only Mediaguard firmware has so far appeared.

Hi 2Old,

Glad to see that you still pass through every now and then. BTW is it you on Satdudez? or is it someone just using your name, and wishing they were you.

I am not registered to Satdudez. It is not secure.

I also received an email from someone referring to "my post" at Satdudez which leads me to think they might be using not just my handle but also my email address!

I'll check it out.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 28-Feb-02 AT 00:10 AM (GMT)]Yes there is a member on Satdudez calling himself 2old4this, but I don't think it's someone trying to spoof, I think it's probably someone who has just coincidentally used the name.

Quote from a typical post....

"Can someone tell me if the above cards are easy to get hold of.
as the Millennium 2000 programmer will not except the MM Silvercard PIC16F877-24LC64. what is the differents beteen theys cards. can i get my programmer modifyed and what is the cost?

Well they're welcome to take mine, as long as they take the Ex Missus as well. :)
