I'm surprised that no-one else has posted about the passing of Malcolm Mclaren last week. Back in the seventies I found Punk to be an exhilarating blast of air through what was becoming, frankly, a bit moribund in the music business.

Malcolm may not have made any records himself (at least, not until much later) but he was able to orchestrate the media and promote his bands, especially the s_x Pistols.

Sadly I never saw the Pistols live. They were booked to play in Liverpool at Eric's but this was cancelled and I think they broke up shortly afterwards.

Well I cannot in all honesty say I noticed this event last week, however much I did not take to punk music nor indeed Malcolm himself who always appeared to be a bit off the wall to me, to lose your life at 64 though is sad.

I itch after scratching, and did before Mr McLaren put it into a song.

No doubt he had an influence in London, but I'm outside Zone 6.

yes i certainly agree with you there ---
and Malcolm Mclaren was very much a part of that change in music --
even though i was a teenager through the sixties -- i particularly enjoyed the energy of the late seventies ---
64 is indeed far to young to depart from this world .
