Is this a multi LNB or motorised dish? If not, then you will need to point the dish at Hotbird to receive signals from it. You will only receive the UK Freesat channels on 28.2 east unless the dish is realigned if a single LNB.

Hotbird 13 and Astra 2E are too far apart for your dish to properly receive both at once, if your pointing at Astra 2E then your looking at a satellite located at 28.2 degrees East, Hotbird 13 is at 13 degrees East, that a 15.2 degrees difference between the two, you would need two dishes, a dish with a wider receive beamwidth (20 degrees or more) or a motorized setup to get both.

And does your satellite finder have a display showing the name of the satellite?

Then you need a second dish, a wide-band dish or a motorized system to get both.

If you have a fixed dish (presumably on 28E) then no matter what the finder might say then the only channels you will get are 28E. The reason you get a reading "elsewhere" is simple - the same frequencies are reused over & over again all round the satellite arc.

You didnt think it might have been a good idea to give us this information about this dish earlier??? :-doh

If there is no lock then its not seeing a signal.

No lock = no or insufficient signal.

Is your satellite finder a flashing light or buzzer type? With the buzzer type, you need to progressively attenuate the buzzer every time it says you have a signal then fine tune again, using magnetic directions can be a few degrees out from true and these satellites are relatively close together.

You might find the Manhattan does not lock on 8PSK/DVB-S2 signals which are increasingly common on satellites.

Try manual scanning 10.815H or 10992V for DVB-S sigals.

Thanks for the help everyone, I have found the problem it is with my receiver it can only receive DVB-S not DVB-S2
i was only looking for dvb-s2 channels which my receiver dose not support
Dose anyone know of any reasonable priced RX 's that support both DVB-S and DVB-S2 that is not freesat only ?
Thanks james

Anything sold in the past three to four years should be DVB-S2 compliant, including the satellite tuner inbuilt televisions.

Lots of choice for less than £40 on amazon if you search for Satellite HD receiver.
